  1. I have a need on Best Degree to Pair w/ a B.Sc. in Computer Science? · · Score: 1

You need to decide what your goal first. If your goal is to find a job by doing an MBA because having a BS degree is not getting you anywhere then forget it. I have a BSEE and now after 7 years of work experience I am doing an MBA in Marketing. Why? Because, I have a goal to start my own business with some good ideas I have. I know in order to do this I need to have some skills other than just technical know how of my ideas. I need to know how to become an entreprenuer, do some accounting, Management, and above of all learn all the marketing tricks. I have a need for the MBA degree.

So need is the main thing here. You need to identify your need. Because one thing I know for sure, an MBA degreee right after getting a BS degree is not a good choice. Get some real work experience then go for a higher degree.

  2. IU Students can Buy Windows XP Pro for only $5 on Red Hat CEO Matthew Szulik Responds · · Score: 1

Maybe only a few 100 or close to a thousand students that are in engineering or computer science are using linux but rest of the 20-40 thousands of students would rather buy windows XP Pro for $5 and easily install it on their system. When these students graduate and go into workplace what OS will they request? This is how MS is now making sure of their future demand. RedHat and other Linux's needs to tap into the Educational institutes, not just depend on a few hundred Computer Science students.

Read the last para just before the section 'Migration' starts. http://www.thejemreport.com/software/freebsd51.php FreeBSD license lets anyone to use their code in any propreitary software and not affect the software license. So I can take code from FreeBSD and incorporate it into my propreitary software and not having to release it to the community. That is I believe what happend with SCO, they thought they owned the code that is actually licensed by FreeBSD in the first place.

  4. I ditched my Land Phone 6 Months ago on Will A Price War Run VoIP Out of Business? · · Score: 1

I have broadband cable internet from Comcast anyway so I tried out Vonage and found that I was saving lot more than the same features with the local Bell companies (ATT, SBC, etc). I pay $25/month and get like Voicemail, 911 Dialing, 3 way calling, call forwarding, call blocking, call waiting, the whole shebang plus 5 local area codes. Used to be calling from one suburbs of detroit to another was local toll calls. But its all free included as local for me. Plus I get 500 minutes of long distance to US and Canada and 3.9 cents after the 500 min. Who can beat this. yeah maybe Bigzoo or some other calling cards who use VOIP anyway but the hassle of dialing access numbers, pin numbers etc is not worth the extra penny. Plus the phone number I have is portable. I choose a 248 area code for my convenience for my friends and families in an area where the Bell companies had given me a 586 area code. Also, another nice thing is when I was in a monthlong project in MA, I took the device with me to a hotel where there are braodband connection and guess what, people were calling me on my 248 and I was recieving them in MA in my hotel or vice versa. I can also take this device anywhere in the world and just connect it to a broadband and bingo, I will be making free local calls to Detroit from Japan or Asia. This is working out really good for me. It's worth $25/Month for all the features.
