I have been wanting GPRS in my area, and the only carrier that offers it is on the GSM system.
This is all good and well, but i already have a GSM phone for Europe, but it is not GPRS compatible. I don't want to have to buy another GSM phone just to use GPRS, then change providers etc.
I have a CDMA phone with GPRS capability, hopefully some provider will get their act together and get me some serious bandwidth. I mean, how am I supposed to get slashdot on my PDA, over 9600 baud!!

I believe the Australian Goverment has apologized for Paul Hogan on several occasions. I would like to take this oppurtunity to express my deepest sorrow at what happened, but I'm not going to say "Sorry".

I have seen The Dish and I must say I really did enjoy it. Being Australian there is alot of culture-centric jokes and puns, which I think might be lost while travelling to the USA.
This is written and produced by the same people that did The Castle, another hirlarious Australian comedy. If you did enjoy The Dish, then you will most likely enjoy this, and vice versa.
Still like Jon Katz said there is a cool sub-plot and you shouldn't be warned off if your not Australian.
Also if you live or go to Australia, watch The Panel. It's the same people again, and its a really enjoyable show.
It also makes you think about the significance of all those "give employees free computer" programs from Ford, et al. OK, so what Northwest did was wrong (to put it lightly). This obviousley means, in Slashdot terms that every "big bad company" that gives its employees a free PC is doing it for their own good? I seriousley doubt that. I think that was definatley a cheap shot on Ford. I mean what are they going to find out? Which factory-line worker put his gum into the glove box of a new focus, then emailed his friend? Yeah, right. Besides what was Northwest did was get a courtorder to search his PC. This is a precedent that should not have been sent. Northwest either had alot of information to suggest that Mr. Reeve was co-ordinating this call-in-sick campaign, OR, it was just the magistrates/courts fault for issuing this courtorder, based on not enough evidence.
I have seen this hydrogen idea on paper and in practice. When I was in Paris, at a Science exhibiton there, they had a working prototype, this was over a year ago.
This is a great idea, but its really just an extension on current petrol (gasoline) engines. It is still using the age-old internal combustion idea.
The idea behind the flywheel is revolutionary, that is, it isnt based on internal combustion engines at all. Which in itself resolves a fundamental problem, emissions, which are a very serious problem, getting worse, in most countries.
While I think that the idea for replacing petrol and using hydrogen (much simplified, I know) is great, it still has many problems associated with it. It solves the problem of eventually running out of oil, but we still have many other issues relating to emissions to consider, this is why I think that using a flywheel to power cars is great. I know it is a fair ways off, and there are still many problems to overcome, but this is the way of the future, IMHO.
In two places, There is l995, rather than 1995; an l rather than a 1. Did JonKatz just (poorly) OCR an old paper of his? tsk tsk tsk

This would work, just pull the plug =) By the sounds of things, it may be a bit expensive though.
