  2. It's a simple case of... on Engineers Have More Sons, Nurses More Daughters · · Score: 1

This is so simple it kills me.

If we can agree that there are so many passwords that we all need to remember, it is only natural that SOMETHING has to go. So, Engineers REMEMBER their sons and they forget their daughters while Nurses REMEMBER their daughters and forget their sons. In reality, the ratios are the same for both groups.

I remember BOTH my kids - but I cannot remember any passwords (except \.)

  3. Let's ALL ask them. on Google Censors Abu Ghraib Images [updated] · · Score: 1

Why don't we just ask them? I mean A LOT ot of us ask them at:
    http://www.google.com/contact/search.html ?
Clearly Google will respond (or not) and eliminate a lot of the speculation here. Let's get an answer, or at least a response (or not, which may give conspiracy theorists a lot to chew on).

  4. What are the limits of offshoring? on What Should a Documentary Filmmaker Ask About Offshoring? · · Score: 2, Interesting

While the cause and effect are being hotly debated, my question is: "What are the limits of offshoring?"

Is it acceptable to allow external development of national defense software? What about storing and evaluating patient medical information (CT and MRI scans)? What if all networking software, virus detection and operating systems came from overseas. Would/could you trust it?

Foreign governments do not (in fact, should not be expected to) necessarily share US political, societal or economic interests. Too much offshoring can weaken the US software development market measurably. How long would it take to recreate that market in the setting of global conflict? Is the maintainance of a strong software community a matter of national security?

  5. Is Lindows another MP3, or do you have religion? on Talk With Michael Robertson · · Score: 2, Interesting

MP3 was a great concept; and brilliantly carried out. However, the endgame (selling, or selling out, depending upon your point of view) is not what folks are hoping for with Lindows .

My question is this: Is Lindows a repeat of MP3.com, a hot button concept to be developed and 'flipped' through a sale to corporate America? Or, is it different this time? Are you taking this one to the mat, with your convictions strengthened by your experience and wealth?

Put another way; Do you have a number (that you would sell for)?

  6. Re:Way ahead of you- N O T! on Internet-Created Free Audio Dramas? · · Score: 1

That site is *not* for the general public -only those who are blind or visually disabled. I tried to get them help me with my original site booksonmp3.com a few years ago and got nowhere! They do not want to risk their relationship with audio publishers (who, BTW, donate recent works to this charity).
We're now working on the same model with the rights to 20 audiobooks at audiobooks.org. I sure would appreciate suggestions on how we can get the bandwidth and disk space to get off the ground on a low budget.

  7. I want to Schedule! on Color Palms to Debut in February? · · Score: 1

Scheduling absolutely *requires* color in order to get a graphic representation of the week or month ahead. I'll be in line for the color version so that my palm will be truly indispensible.

For those of you who go to the site http://www.gop.gov , you will find that the 'back button' doesn't work (unless you furiously and rapidly hit it 3 or 4 times). Isn't the government trying to pass legislation to prevent this type of hijacking? Is this whole site a cruel hoax? Who could be behind it - Gore? (After all, he created the internet.)
