For a long time, I've had a sneaking suspicion that the reason government (and automobile companies) was so "hot" to have us use ethanol was (besides the obvious pork factor) that it burns in a way that the heat generated destoys engines (especially cheaper aluminum ones) over time.
I also wondered what the effect of alcohol and water "burning" in a mix with cheap gasoline would have on the older, cheaper, simpler engines.
I've been served well by incorporating a lifetime reading plan. Starting with the one outlined in the appendix of HOW TO READ A BOOK, by Adler and Fadiman, I've added a few non-Western classics to my list, and I still have time to peruse slashdot!

Anyone know of research on that sort of thing?
about ungracious theft among artists, I've been interested in pursuing the quote attributed to Pablo Picasso which has often been stated:
"amateurs borrow...artists steal!"
as best I've been able to discern, the real quote goes something like this:
"it's a poor artist who borrows,
a great artist steals!"
if you can help me determine the facts, please reply to this tangential discourse.
TIA and regards...
