  1. Re:Does not Compute! on A Savant Explains His Abilities · · Score: 1

I don't think giving him a whole series of additions/multiplications/other "easy" operations would cause him much difficulty - he would probably do each operation in sequence and it would only increase the time required by a factor of the number of operations. It may, however be interesting to see how he handles computationally hard problems. He briefly mentions his distress in the market and what not. This suggests that NP-complete problems may be beyond his capabilities, or maybe I'm just out on a limb here.

Hmm.. according to the online etymology dictionary (look up "burglar" here http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?l=b&p=21), "burgle" (1872) is actually a "hideous back-formation" of "burglarize" (1871).

  3. Re:Now, the question is on Duchovny Says X-Files Sequel in Works · · Score: 1

This sentiment seems to be pervasive, and it's certainly true that the quality of the X-Files deteriorated after the X-Files movie, but it wasn't all bad. Season 6 has some great comedic episodes, and one of the best 2-part mythologies (Two Fathers/One Son). Unfortunately, this 2-parter pretty much ended the great mythology that was set up over the course of the first five seasons. Most of the mythologies following it were not as interesting or well-written with the exception of the moving Samantha 2-parter in season 7 (Sein und Zeit/Closure). I was actually glad Mulder was gone in Season 8. The whole Mulder/Scully thing was getting tiring, and Doggett added a great new dynamic to the show. Seasons 6-9 were definitely uneven, but don't dismiss them all together.

  4. Re:It's not J-Pop, don't worry on Final Fantasy Concert Series Coming to the States · · Score: 1

You may be aware of the spectacular Final Fantasy Symphonic Suite, an orchestrated version of early Final Fantasy music (1-3). Amazon has it, and it's worth a listen even if you haven't played FF1-3.
