This is laughable as well. Every single thing the guy listed for OSX, Win2k Pro comes with.

Apparently you're not aware that Win2K is crippled as a web server platform. First, Win2K professional DOESN'T come with Apache. Even if you install it, you are limited to a fixed number of incoming TCP connections (something in the range of 10) that make it utterly useless as a web server. Unlike Microsoft, Apple is not selling you a crippled OS.

This is meant as an introductory text to computing for biologists. Not vice versa. If you don't understand the biology, it's pretty much meaningless.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that society has a lot of "information" but MOST of it is worthless ... what you CAN'T find in society is anything thats insightful or informative.

I point to the entirety of popular culture as proof.

That's entirely different. I thought everyone knew that model shots are totally touched up. And pop songs always use digital tone correction to make those pop singers sound on key.

The difference is that I'm not in the business of purchasing models (god forbid). The picture is the product, and so I don't give a damn about reality. If, however, you're trying to sell me something based on a faked photograph, I think I'll get upset.

  6. Viewpoint of a current student developer on Developer Tools For MacOS X · · Score: 1

While I don't know how good ADC was back in the old days, but Apple today is very good to its student developers, IMO.

Student developers get a 20% discount on Apple hardware (one time use), the same as the Premier program that costs $3500 per year (student membership costs $99).

Students are getting perks that aren't technically supposed to be included - things like OS X developer previews and beta.

Finally, Apple gave away free passes to the WWDC (worth something like $1500 a piece) to any student who wanted one for the past two years.
