Last I checked, we don't have a Disposable Income Tax. We have an Income Tax. If you want to be fair on an Income Tax, then you assign a single tax rate that applies to each unit of income.

As far as Schedule A goes, anyone can fill it out. You don't need a mortgage deduction to "activate" it. The only reason a lot of people don't bother with Schedule A is that there is a standard deduction which is often higher than what you'd write off in Schedule A. My mortgage deduction alone has never been higher than my standard deduction, but with all of the other write-offs available, it is higher. In fact, all of my other Schedule A write offs are usually enough to beat standard without my mortgage interest.

Run an amortization schedule on $120K at the rate you expect to have. Places like bankrate.com have them and they'll break down how much you pay in interest each month. Adding those up by year will tell you how much to expect writing off. And keep in mind that the amount of your payment that goes towards interest goes down each month for a fixed rate mortgage.

No, it's not the same. Sports games are simulators. When people play flight simulators, they generally want the planes to be based on real planes. When people play racing games, they generally want them to be based on real cars. When people play Guitar Hero, they want to play songs they've at least heard of. When people play sports games, they want the teams to be based on real teams. A fun game engine is a must-have for a simulator, but filling that world with familiar objects is also important.

Did you really not follow along or were you just trying to find an opportunity to shove in a snarky comment about Kindle's browser shortcomings? The publishers of paid content pay 'delivery charges' to Amazon that subsidize the 3G costs. Even though you didn't "buy" Wikipedia from the publishers, they still paid the cost for you to access it. As far as what you can access, I've found that it's no worse than non-smartphones. I can run my email, Facebook, Google Voice, and the mobile versions of weather.com and ESPN with it. Other sites can very much be a pain.

To be fair, updating the console after the sale is a pretty new phenomenon. But consoles lose features all the time. The Atari 5200 lost two controller ports and the Master System lost the slot used with their 3D glasses. I'm sure there are others examples. That's not exactly what you're talking about since only the new consoles were affected but it's as close as you can get for consoles that you couldn't really update.

I'd consider BluRay if RedBox dropped DVD or severely cut the selection of DVDs but even then it's not a slam dunk because I'm pretty sure I'd have to buy an actual player instead of just adding a drive to my HTPC (It's not the fastest machine on earth). I don't want more crap in my living room.
