  1. Re:Not exactly "error recovery" on Mark Russinovich on Windows Kernel Security · · Score: 1

What I meant by that was: It's easy to screw up Windows and go fix it if you know what you are doing.

It's easy to screw up Linux configs and go fix those too, whether it be webserver, internet, whatever. Albeit probably much easier.
(Didn't need a windows CD pre NT4 or 2K, but that's kinda reaching).

Just some screwing around at the command prompt. I see your point on usability of the entire system though.

It does have an undo command, just not Edit - Undo. Welcome to a post Windows95 world.

If you screwed up the registry you could always make them bootable again, you just had to screw around at the command line. Linux does not make leaps and bounds over this fix. X not booting? Time to go screw around at the command line again.

ITT and Heald? What are you talking about? They can churn out more people who run in and pitch Windows 2003 without even knowing wtf is going on. They are the reason YOU have a frikken job.

When your the best you get the final word. You may get pushed back on, but you have excellent reasons for your recommendations, so it's not a problem.

Oh, and a blank check? We do get one... We just don't need to use it.

Further, any idiot can ask for documentation and ask a bunch of questions. Don't forget PHB's are churned out by the thousands.

    They could.

But they are a bulk mailer. They pay by weight and all of their outgoing mail is pre-sorted in house.

So it's all the same to them.

The downside to your suggestion is that there are extra charges for thicker envelopes and oversized envelopes when bulk mailing. Although I doubt they would run into that in this case.

Well... At least they are releasing software for Linux... I don't think Photoshop would be OpenSource either. But Adobe releasing it for Linux would be considered embracing.

I've been watching this just like everyone else.
And although I do not understand it to it's fullest extent, all I can say is, hold on it's going to be a bumpy ride.

SCO is not as dumb as you think, actually after reading this article I'm convinced they are a lot smarter than we all thought.

During discussions with a friend we tried to figure out SCO's plan.
After deciding that they must be taking pointers from MS, and watching their tactics from the past, we decided to apply MS thinking to SCO's actions. And the outcome is scary.

While not printed in stone, it is now painfully obvious what is going on.

For SCO to win, just like MS does, all they have to do is make a case in U.S. courts (Important point there), that states that Linux is a Unix imitation.

This study is part of that.

Also while we sit around laughing at SCO for losing their funding, and getting beat up left and right, it makes it all the better for them. They would then have more and more damages to sue for.

What makes this even more obvious is the fact that they don't give a shit about Unix, they haven't developed it to compete any more. It's merely there, being owned.

While I love Linux, and wish SCO would just frikken die already. I think it would be foolish not to look at how MS has won in the past, and apply that to SCO now. Evil or not, it HAS worked. And will continue to work, especially with the courts we have in place now.

Don't be fooled one bit by SCO looking stupid.

I don't they were testing the waters for people to stop file sharing. But whether or not they can get $3000 out of lots of people.

Think about it, have you spent $3000 on music in your whole life? Maybe, and then some. But alot of people wouldn't.

At least not at the rate they can download.
