    Facebook provides Jabber/XMPP access to their chat system for free.

    I find the web unusable without Adblock+, especially on my kiddie-grade 5Mbps max WISP connection.

    I don't. I have a simple proxy.pac file that sends a few annoying advertiser domains to use a proxy connection on 255.255.255.255 (and for US-access only sites, hits my local ssh proxy to one of my US servers).

    I should also note that I travel frequently (Monday through Friday) and I am often on mobile Internet.

    I used to when I was doing unique character designs because people couldn't use Disney characters instead. So, to answer your question: Yes., yes, I do.

    If my scheduling system can take this recommendation into account, why wouldn't the AI be capable of doing it?

    There are obviously thousands of people using encryption because they have a legitimate reason to hide something

    Some also use it to prevent tampering.

    So why aren't there more cases of encryption impeding an investigation?

    Perhaps some of those people people whom use encryption properly are more law abiding.

    Are you sure it's not Waterfall idiots? They don't seem to release regularly at all. Proper waterfall processes are prone to the pesticide paradox when it comes to QA because everything is meant to be planned out in advanced.

    Yeah, we've got this thing with the major ISP (BT) where you can get free wireless at hot spots around the world (FON) by ticking a checkbox that sets aside bandwidth on an open SSID on the router. The IP remains the same,

    The IP doesn't remain the same, please don't lie. Additionally, you have to login with your BT details when on said system, which uniquely identifies you, no matter which hotspot you're using.

    If the land you use consists of roof tops then it's not consuming any precious space.

    Which aren't the ones commonly used in Germany.

    In the price for nuclear energy plants you must also consider the cost not only for construction but also to take care of the remainders when the plant is no longer in service, some material is "hot" for millenia - and it's not only the fuel.

    And yet disposal facilities for storing this for generations aren't that hard to come by.

    The bad side affect is the higher maintenance costs, more land requirements, unreliable energy etc. compared to nuclear for the same amount of energy.

    How the fsck do you think this won't get you large fines for unfair competition practices in the European Union?

    By providing terms of service that you agree to use their service or you don't get the service.

    By forcing people to have you represent them

    You're not forced, go with another provider or make your own.

    you are being unfair competition to other streaming web sites and small record labels

    YouTube isn't a public market, it's a service.

    You may have oodles of lawyers up your sleeve, but even they won't be able to get away with this in the EU.

    Increasing the overhead, or reducing the income to indie labels hurts the indie artists.

    Increasing the overhead of YouTube, or reducing the income to YouTube hurts YouTube...

    That's what Google does when they force already well-squeezed labels (most indie labels don't pull down the huge chunks major labels, or even the major vanity labels do) to cut their limited profits more.

    They're not forcing anything. It's their service, not yours. I would consider it forcing if it was your service (in the context of hosting videos) and they were dictating the terms of contract.

    Ok. This is just evil. I will start looking for non-Google options for email and such, and will encourage the IEEE to stop using Google for ieee.org email - the current President of the IEEE-USA is a close personal friend... First I will cancel my Google Apps business account.
