  2. CMS Made Simple on How To Choose An Open Source CMS · · Score: 2, Interesting

I've been using CMS Made Simple for a while. It works very well and is very easy to use. My "not at all computer savy" clients love it and it's worked well for me too. Simple installation, simple page creation, simple menus, simple templating... yea, it's just simple. :)

  3. Sitepoint on Webpage Building Guides for the Uninitiated? · · Score: 1

http://www.sitepoint.com/ is a great site for articles, blogs, books and forums. The forums are the best part. The community is great and really helpful. Definitly a worth a look.

Agreed. I've used them for a few months now and i dont have any complaints. (well except you have to pre-pay for the music... but that is a very small complaint).

    Woops...

Sorry boss, for some reason the code's all gone. It might take a hefty pay raise or a nice licensing fee to get it back!

    mwahahahaha

  6. Email response time on Finding Trustworthy Webhosting Reviews? · · Score: 1

http://www.modevia.com/ I've been using them for the longest time and i can't say how awesome their support is.

One thing i've found about web hosts through trial and error: it's hard to find a good host with awesome tech support.

I've had 3 hosts in my years that respond within "48 hours". Modevia usually responds within 2-3! Not only that but i'm truly amazed by how they are willing to help their users... just the other day i had one of my sites defaced because of my stupidity. Modevia hopped right in and help me track down how it happend and gave me some ip's of the defacers and even offered to help me switch to a app that they make sure is updated at the server level. They are not the cheapest but it has been well worth it in my eyes.

Good tech support is a must! Some advice when looking for new hosts is to e-mail the hosts support before you decided to go with them. See how long they take to respond. That will give you a good indication of what it would be like to be a customer.

  7. Best. Game. Ever. on Crucial Classics - Bionic Commando · · Score: 1

I remember this game from back in my younger days. It took me forever to beat, but it was a labor of love! Truly one of the best and most innovative NES games i've ever played.

I doubt that will happen.... It's worth it even with the steam problems. They've moved their back collection onto steam and they spent alot of money into getting steam to work, so i doubt they will dump it for a few people that don't have an internet connection.

Just to warn you thought... these are pretty high caliber servers.

  10. Re:Cheaters on Bot for CS: Source to be Released · · Score: 5, Interesting

That is the question that may never be answered. "How good of a score do you have to have to be considered a cheater?"

I know for a fact i've been accused of a cheater and by most accounts I suck. I have noticed that i play in spurts. One round i'll be 4-15, the next i'll be 15-1. Sometimes it depends on your teammates, or the lack of teamwork on the other side. The type of weapon (auto-snipers...) or the map itself.

I play on a group of servers that usually brings in high quality gamers and you rugularliy see 20-2 scores. (and my 4-15...) I have to say though that not one of them is a cheater.

And about the "headshot and it didn't even look close..." issue; CS:S has some bad hit boxes and will dole out random headshots. It sucks, i know. From compiling some stats on those servers it's usually 1 in 4 kills is a headshot. Also, it could be lag that you made it look like he was way off, but in reality could be right on.

Oh yea, and cheaters aren't that prominent. Stay away from non-admined servers. Usually when there is an active community around the server they have admins in there cleaning out the cheaters. Also, People just like to complain... "He is 20-1, he must be a h@x0r" when in reality he's just that damm good.

  11. Re:ratings won't be what they should on New Battlestar Galactica Series Starts Tonight · · Score: 1

I dont understand why it was important that they show it first? Doesn't the SCIfi channel only run in the US?

I mean, ok, it's "hey i spent more money than you, i want first crack." But in reality i think both networks would get great ratings if they showed it at the same time. Instead the UK will have much higher ratings than the US. Hope this doesn't affect a second season....

  12. Re:BTEFNET.NET on New Battlestar Galactica Series Starts Tonight · · Score: 4, Insightful

It's great that we can download stuff off the net... but in reality that could hurt the possibility of a second season. The hard core scifi fans have already downloaded it and watched it, and odds are wont turn into the show. Based on that the ratings for the US showing will be lower than what they couuld be. A screw up for the SciFi channel big time.... I really hope we get a second season, these first episodes really are quite good.

  13. Counter Strike: Source on Too Much Gaming, Anyone? · · Score: 2, Funny

As most of you know Counter Strike got a major graphical upgrade with the release of Half-life 2. Last night after playing for 3 hours and then having to get called into work i realized i was looking at my office building as if Terrorists were inside!

I would subconsiously think of where the enemy could be sniping from. Where would a good place to throw a grenade would be. Should i rush and straif the corner, or try and find a round-about-way of enterting that area. I even got to the point where I was thinking... "Man that would be an easy headshot!"

What did i learn from this? Never bring a gun to work... you might relapse into Couter-strike mode :)

  14. Sad day in geekdom.... on Former TechTV Shows and Staff Dropped · · Score: 2, Interesting

Before the takeover, i watched techTv probably 6 hours a week. Since the merger, i've watched less and less, down to about 30 minutes a week.

Since the changes on TSS i haven't watched it in 3 weeks. (and now Yoshis gone??? he was the only reason i even watched!!!)

It's truly a sad day in geekdom.
