Two cameras, which are expected to be operational next week, will scan faces of people who enter the office at Royal Palm Middle School. They are linked to state and national databases of sex offenders, missing children and alleged abductors.
If these "missing children" are "entering the office" - how missing are they really?
Do you need a camera to tell you that the kid has been found?
This is just screaming for a DIY mini-ITX project..
1) Build up a nice little box with a generous harddrive
2) throw in a tv tuner card
3) search sourceforge for some linux software someone has written up just for this purpose
4) profit?
http://epiacenter.com/ and
http://www.mini-itx.com usually have interesting mini-itx projects people have done.. i'm sure someone else has done something similar to this.. maybe you can find a useful writeup.
Contrary to popular belief I'm pretty sure that Valve took the Quake (not Q2) engine and redid something like 70-80% of the code.
But it was Quake IIRC which was the first 3d shooter to actively support and encourage a modding community by releasing QuakeC.. I guess half-life's huge mod community is just an extention of that success.
:D
They should be thanking us!

Mods like Counter-Strike are a boon to developers. Its like having people who work for free. I know that valve has taken CS under their wing now but there are many mods that keep games playable - with no work on the part of the developers. Imagine all the people who bought half-life so they could play counter-strike on the internet (or DoD or TF)? Originally CS was just a couple of nerds with some free time on their hands..
Not to mention that you can't make everyone happy.. mods let people take a great engine and make a game that is "boring" to them fun. Some people like CS, others prefer TF, some are into DoD.. I'm pretty sure that many of those people never bother to play multiplayer HL.
Maybe Microsoft and the RIAA could pool their legal resources and sue people for storing their mp3s on pre-formatted FAT media.
Instead of having two separate legal teams clogging the courts with two seperate cases - they can streamline the process of picking your pocket.
I think the legal system should become a publically traded company.. judging by current trends business is booming!
Apparently SNK Japan is a bit cautious about the USA's acceptance of content.
;)
Huh? Isn't "Blood, guns and boobs" the premise of 99% of the movies made in hollywood today?
I would think americans wouldn't accept a game without guns blood and boobs.

Does IE know its being tricked, or does it know the real site and just display the wrong one?
:/
I'm wondering if some shady types could use this exploit to get your cookies for any site of their choosing.. that just might be a slight problem
