    I guess they could use a meta-package for that.
    It would also be nice if they made a way so that you could have it fairly simple and not install all the stuff you don't need.

    Netscape did something, anti-spyware software just fixes MS's mistakes.

    An anti-spyware company suing MS for getting their act together would be the same as a spyware company suing MS.

    Yep. The only posibility of MS winning this one is if they're program works flawlessly, which it won't.

    Seriously.
    Why can't MS just make an OS which isn't so prone to it?
    If they somehow made Vista impervious (without a built in addon or tool) do you think people would be mad at them for killing the competition?

    Microsoft steals the lucrative business of fixing Microsofts mistakes. Spyware manufacturers also make money off of Microsofts mistakes.
    Just some food for thought.

    What inventions do slashdoters think are too important not to share?
    Those related to health, medicine included. If you can't trust closed source software there is no way you can trust closed source food or medicine. If I gave you a clear liqiud and said "Here, drink this". Would you? I wouldn't. I would first ask what it was. If the provider refused to say what the liquid was he has something to hide, and if its worth hiding its probobly not worth ingesting.

    Also, a tangent, I think an online wikpidia like open cooking database would be a cool project.

    Parent should not be modded flamebait. One license would work if everyone was the same, but we're not. Different developers and different software projects need different licenses. Many Linux newbies think that there should be one distro. Anyone who knows about GNU/Linux knows that this would not be good. I suppose we want one language now to. (yes I get the reference)

    Under GPL you need only distribute the source to those who you ditribute the binary. Also, charging for sharing would go completely against the GPL.
