I disagree. I think it is likely (sort of). When I got a new job I decided to move close to where I work. Specifically so I can cycle to work.

One thing I find really weird is that there haven't been any adverts here in the UK asking us to help donate? Does anyone know why??

I looked on the British red cross page, and they have suggested donating money to the american red cross directly. Still no-one here is telling the population how to donate money. You have to find out for yourself.

Can we have some sort of publicity drive or something?

I've just moved into a new place, and the first thing I did was order cable (telewest). Of course I needed a nice connection to the internet, so I got that as well. I didn't know what I had to do to get cable to work under linux, (I had a speedtouch USB ADSL modem in my previous place). So I thought I would just check that my connection would be dhcp based....nice & easy. Me: Is the IP & network info set via DHCP? Woman: errrr....let me just check..... Woman:We only do static IP addresses for business customers Me: Never mind...

Simply put, Gentoo didn't own the machine, there are lots of "rsync" servers that people use (like web sites, but used for downloading files only). Because the people who run gentoo don't own the server, they aren't responsible for it. All this leaves me with a very uncomfortable feeling. I have some websites running on linux servers (not mine) from rackspace providers. Should I be worried ? No! Gentoo is really a desktop OS. Your websites will not be affected. In fact from the sounds of things no one will of been affected, just the 1 server.
