XBox2 seems to me an even bigger moneypit than XBox1

Good! Let Microsoft foot the bill for us to have fun. Those jerks owe us for the monopolistic tactics they have always loved which have left the average computer user with an insecure, dysfunctional system and an empty bank account.

I don't care how well XBox2 competes against PS3, I just plan to have a blast with both systems.

any claims to the contrary are sheer speculation
Actually there have been a huge number of alien sightings and abductions. For various reasons, most of these events are usually considered dubious (i.e. the victim is either lying or mistaken). However, there have been a few well documented sightings which seem very believable; it is also eminently believable that our governments would go to lengths to cover up such evidence. Additionally, the similarity between stories of abductees leads to two theories: either they suffer from some mental disease that causes such a specific imagined experience; or they really were abducted and tested.

Certainly there are valid reasons to doubt this evidence. But it is important to remember that it abounds, and therefore talk of the existence of aliens is more than speculation. It is based on evidence.

How is it that both Matrix films were un-nominated for visual effects Oscars? While I can understand discriminating against them because of their relative unpopularity, I can't imagine that their visual effects were considered less spectacular. Yet another reason to hate awards shows, I suppose.

  7. Seriously, Sirius. Seriously. Sirius. on Satellite Radio Systems Compared · · Score: 4, Informative

Sirius has no commercials. And better channels (my mouth watered at their online trials). And subscribers can stream the music to any computer. Consider the large amount of time our soceity spends in front of the computer and the luxury of having excellent music for that entire time.

While I haven't used Sirius yet, I hope to afford it soon. XM seems like the work of monopolistic, commercialistic, record-company-loving businesspeople, rather than music lovers, and their service is inferior. Take a stand for a company that respects its customers by subscribing to Sirius.

There is a way for both to lose: approval voting. This system allows each voter to choose as many candidates as they like, therefore they don't feel pressure to throw their vote to a 'lesser of two evils' (because they can do so while also voting for the candidates they like). This system eliminates the need for primaries (taking the decision away from the political parties; remember John McCain) because several candidates can run on similar platforms without reducing each others' support. Such a system would give third party candidates the support they deserve, and start to break the two-party stranglehold of incompetance and greed that has brought us to this awful point.

  9. Re:solving a non-problem on More E-Voting SNAFUs · · Score: 3, Insightful

The problem with our current voting system is that most people are too lazy to even vote. If electronic systems were used instead, they wouldn't take as much space, nor would they need to assign voters to a specific polling place. Therefore they could plant voting machines all over the place to increase turnout. Plus the computers could offer info on the candidates so that voters have something to decide on besides political party.

Monorails are a great form of public transit. Their guideways can go anywhere a subway tunnel can't, and they're never slowed down by traffic. They don't need drivers or much maintenance, so their operating costs are minute (therefore they could make profits unlike buses or trains). And their image would inspire interest and ridership among car-owners. http://www.monorails.org
