Hm, but that Dune miniseries was pretty good, in my opinion:p
I didn't bother comparing it to the books. What's the point? It's a movie, not the book; I therefore don't expect it to be anything like the book. The Dune one was a bit better than others, I think, since it at least captured the atmosphere of the books (again, in my opinion).
(the lord of the rings movies were good for the exact opposite reason- they weren't in a long-winded epic style [which I don't think would fit a movie very well {whee, sub-parentheses(!)}])
Mare Crisium was developing this for ages, a sequel to the original "Stars!"... couldn't find a publisher... seems like MOO3 would be kind of similar to it, but I tried it and yeah, it's the same. Except with all the good parts taken out and replaced with crappy parts.
I think the most recent news on their site last time I saw it was 2001 sometime... and now the site seems to be down. Damn. Seems like it's totally lost...
Well, I have to say, I'm a bit less than pleased with the email service... it tends to work fine, just... late. Very late. Not all the time, though, just enough so I'm looking forward to G-mail or whatever:p
could someone please let me know when that happens?
Best storyline I've seen in a game... has to be Sanitarium. It's kind of old, but I think it has a great atmosphere, even if the only movement speed is "mold growth". So far the cinematics have also been pretty shiny (for the times, but not too shabby today), and they've actually got points. As an example, a half-remembered memory morphs into a person you just met. Pretty cool... Actually, at the moment it's very strongly contending for my own personal "best game EVER" title.
Right, now who's not too lazy and wants to send in an idea report?
(not it!)
On a related note, I don't seem to be able to add linebreaks in my comment through use of the enter key any more... I need to use a br tag. Bug in Opera or bug in Slashdot?
That's funny, what I thought of was MS Office. Still haven't seen a toolbar customization system that matches it, or even comes close. (plus, the buttons in Office XP look pretty darn neat)
Isn't it amazing how many Slashdotters can see the future and/or are on the development team? Good thing we have them to tell us that it'll suck, otherwise we might waste some time following its development.
In fact, why not use the Gentoo installer? It's installed Gentoo perfectly for me two times out of three! Whereas all the Debian installer did for me is install Debian... oh and Xfree didn't work by default. And since this was in my early struggles with linux, when I found out that the gui didn't work and that I didn't have a clue how the configuration file for Xfree worked (much less which part was broken), I just went on to Slackware. Of course, until it stopped working with my soundcard one reboot, then I moved on to...
*sigh* I love changing Linux distros around... maybe I should write a song.
I want to know why you guys don't just mod yourselves, or at least parts of your posts, out of existence.
Simply reading your comments, especially toward the ends of your articles, makes me angry. Is it your intention to spread knowledge, or to grind the ignorant people's faces into the dirt and then spit on them? Seems to be to latter to me. Either that or you guys get some terrible frustrations worked up during the day and release them slowly later.
Or, in simpler terms you will understand (look, ma, i can talk like a slashdotter!), you guys are both poopie heads for being mean, now go to your rooms.

Seriously, the web browser you use is practically a religion now. "Spread the good word about Firefox, and save the souls of those IEites"
And since when does "many choices of web browsers" mean "monopolized"?
Praise Opera, without which we are naught.

This sounds very Mac OS Xish.

Hmm, alchemy... "Hey look, I turned this quarter into gold!" "Really? How much gold?" "Er, about 25 cents worth..."
Stop insulting people randomly and fix your swearing problem. (meanie)

Where would this "authconfig" command come from? I'm running Gentoo, with Samba installed... yet the command's not there.
I think this is most likely the most flamey post I've seen in quite some time.
"OMG U R TEH SUX U DONT NO NETHING" would have served your purpose just as well, I believe.
