  1. copy protection, etc.... on CD Copy Protection Case Goes to Court · · Score: 2, Interesting

In Canada I have the legal right to copy a friend's music disc, etc, this has been decided by our copyright board (as long as I make my own copy). In my humble opinion, copy controlled discs are violating my rights granted by my government. In a seperate issue, if I can legally copy someone else's music cd, can I not legally copy software? :)

  2. Re:Walmart is evil and full of controversry on Wal-Mart Music Download Service Launches · · Score: 1
Perhaps the American governemt needs to look into universal health care to take the burden off of employers. Maybe they could take it out of their defense program, god knows there is enough money there.

It's great that Walmart can provide cheap prices for North American people that can't afford much more but, however, at the expense of what? For everybody saving a dollar in the US, there is someone losing a dollar and a half in China on labour, etc. Please do not endorse someone that promotes human exploitation.

  3. Re:What about other CD stores? on Wal-Mart Music Download Service Launches · · Score: 1
CD stores are not censoring music if they decide there is not enough interest to stock it. That's called marketing. So I can't find much industrial or electronic music lately; is that censorship or is that because of lack of interest?

Telling a band they won't stock something because of their lyrics is censorship. As is telling a band that because of their religious views they are not allowed to perform in Utah, for example.

I'd like to respond to #3 Canada's economy has been staying pretty steady, which is what the whole topic is about.

For someone that loves music, DVD's seem like a waste of money for me. I'd much rather sit and listen to music anyday.

I can listen to music for years, movies, generally speaking, are only good for a couple viewings and then I'm bored of them. In a movie you dread knowing what's going to happen next, in music you anticipate it.. :)

  6. Re:yes.... on CRIA Prepares To Sue P2P Copyright Violators · · Score: 1

Actually, I'm 25 and I'm still listening to stuff from when I was 15 and I can picture myself listening to it in 30 years. :) I can think of quite a few bands and albums that will go on to become classics from that time.

Take note, in the late '60's and '70's there was a revolution in music, in the early '90's that happened again (I know some will argue this). Soon enough you'll see, history repeats itself. Right now, the music industry is in a lull and they are trying to place the blame in the obvious direction pirating.

Personally, I've neved downloaded one mp3, I appreciate the quality that comes off the Compact Disc versus the mp3. mp3's don't sound great on a revealing stereo.

  7. Illegitimate on Saddam Hussein Arrested · · Score: 1
If this was an illegitimate war, shouldn't Saddam's case get thrown out of court in a democratic society? :)

More seriously, I can't forget the fact that this was waged without UN support and by falsifying information to harness the American populations approval. I believe that Saddam should be punished for torturing people, however hasn't the US encouraged and actually commited that crime themselves?
