  1. Re:Bigger Question... on Introducing Children to Computers? · · Score: 1

    We already do.

Some of you do. I graduated high school in 2002, and there was only one class that had anything even remotely to do with computers - "Keyboarding". Teaching sophomores how to type, and use Word and Excel. How to write a resume and all that. Nothing technical.

  2. Re:While a felony is excessive on Top 20 Gaming Lows of 2004 · · Score: 3, Insightful

There's a difference there. Cigarettes and alcohol will kill you. Games are just entertainment.

And if you're kid's smart enough to be sneaking around like that, then chances are good they're old enough to play the game. A little gratuitous violence and sexuality never hurt anyone.

And as a side note, if you are too stupid to realize downloading what you can legally record is NOT piracy, then you have some serious mental issues.

But you can record music off of the radio. Does that make downloading music legal as well?

    Just playing devil's advocate.

The main problem with this, or rather, one of the major problems (as I found out trying to cancel my subscription)....you can't pay unless you've got their crap installed. I tried telling the idiot on the phone that I was cancelling *because* their crap game screwed up my computer, and they basically said, "Well, too bad, now you can't play our games EVER AGAIN." Big loss......*rolls eyes*

  5. What Women Want on Playing Games While Not Ruining Your Relationship? · · Score: 1

As a girl (and engaged, at that), I think that it's a little unreasonable to ask a SO to quit gaming entirely.

My future husband (can't spell fiance(e?)) plays Diablo II. Compulsively. He'll stay up from the time I go to bed (~12 AM) to ~6 AM, playing. I don't care, I'm sleeping. So, there's an option.

Another is to get her a game she'll like. There aren't really a lot of chick-centric games, but the ones I really enjoyed were the ones with PLOT. It's all very well and good to blow shit up, and kill everything that moves, but sometimes, I want something a little deeper. I'd say, Final Fantasy. Actually, any kind of RPG, as they're not hard to catch onto, and you don't have to have lightening-fast reflexes.

    Hope it helps.
