The problem is not necessarily the innate ability of the people (though based on those I know, it might be), it's our educational system.
American public schools suck. Badly. I recall reading somewhere that we are 16th out of 19 countries polled in math and science - just above Brazil and North Korea.
There are students who rise above our broken schools and manage to do extremely well in math/science, but the majority of people learn what they're taught and that's it.
It's only limited the way they've got it set up. There's no reason that, with today's technology, we couldn't split it up a hundred times more than it is. But then everyone could get a cheap radio station, and we wouldn't want that, would we?
"Religious principles". Do you really think that religion has a monopoly on morality? Being averse to murder, theft, adultery - these are human traits, not religious traits.
That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Even on here, and that's saying something.
Some of us live in rural areas, where it's a 30 mile drive to work/school, 60 miles round trip. Even in a car that gets decent mileage (say 30mi/gal, for convienience) that's ~$12 a day. $60 a week. Just to go to work or school.
I'm a college student. I can't afford that. Maybe in cities, where there *is* mass transit, that may be an option. But for a large portion of Americans, it isn't. Cheap transportation is a necessity for those who live in the middle of nowhere.
It's not only that. It's the fact that I have to bust my ass to get all my nice gear, but you have $300 to blow, and get even better stuff. Then you come kick my ass (assuming this is a PvP server). It gives an unfair advantage to people who don't deserve it.
I call bullshit. I never learned a damn thing on the field trips I went on in school. But the time I spent playing on the computer, fixing it when it broke (or trying to), and just generally tinkering with it was, I think, a very good experience for me. I began playing ~11.
And we're seeing obesity mainly because people decide to eat pre-packaged or fast "food", instead of actually cooking or eating healthy.

They didn't bury anything when I got it. Of course, I did have to open that big scary manual (all of about 15 pages). And, y'know, read.
If these people are too stupid to read the documentation to set up a vital service, then it's their own fault.
What he *meant* to say was:
Common people you can treat like crap, they'll do a decent job in return and not complain about their shitty working conditions! Honest!
But geeks get whiny about it, wanting "fair pay", "overtime", "lunch breaks" and crap like that. It's insanity, I tell ya.
The same reason women have clitorises (clitorii?). The split between genders during development happens late enough that we both get them.
:)
Or if you want to be silly, it's because God wants us to be happy.
Ah, the "we can't explain the Big Bang, therefore Jesus is the messiah" argument. I admire your ability to delude yourself.
Indeed. Am I the only one who got the LimeStore (or whatever it's called) installed?
I thought the internet counted as free speech?
Doesn't really matter, though. No one's going to be able to block everything.
I *do* buy the stuff, if it's worth buying.
That's the problem. Most of the time, it isn't, and I delete it.
That's what the "Archive" button is for.
Are you trying to say WiFi is a non-essential service? HERETIC!

And religion has *never* been used as an excuse for atrocities.
Oh wait...
- 9/11
- The Crusades
- The Inquisition
etc.
Violent video games are, for me at least, a release for the kind of stress that would make me yell at someone, or drive like an asshole.
It's better to actually be a parent.
Come on, don't have kids unless you're gonna take care of them.
No, we should get these kids help. What kind of teenager wants to kill people? And actually acts on it? One that needs to see a therapist.
That's easy enough. If the kid would probably survived, had it been born, then it's murder. If it's still a little gooball, then it's not.
"Religious principles". Do you really think that religion has a monopoly on morality? Being averse to murder, theft, adultery - these are human traits, not religious traits.
Actually, it's a hypothesis - theories have at least a little proof behind them.

Right, because we know *everyone* who gets a record contract gets rich beyond their wildest dreams. *rolls eyes*
Over 4!?! Two seems reasonable to me, that way you and your spouse are replaced - the overall population, once you die, will be the same.
And we all know how much big corporations like to give away their star product for free...
