Actually... the free floating window way GIMP operates is identical the the way Photoshop works on the Macintosh... which has *always* been Photoshops native platform.
One of the largest complaints I've heard from other Designers who've been forced to work on a PC at a new job vs a Mac is the the single containing window paradigm is a huge pain in the ass, and it makes it hard to use the desktop.
I *wish* I was a good enough programmer to figure out how to patch IE. I'd fix all those truly annoying CSS bugs that IE has.
I bet if MS released a way to patch thier aps to the world, they'd get a lot of thier things fixed free, out of user frustration.
