You're right, they do have to fix it if there's a problem, but you're a tard if you think an INDEPENDENT (as in not Apple owned) shop has any authority or would ever get paid by Apple to do a full unit replacement without explicit authorization from Apple first. I fucking worked at an Apple shop. You do NOT replace a customer computer through the shop, PERIOD, unless you also happen to sell Macs and the guy bought from you. That is done through Apple. The shop seems to have screwed up, yes, but it seems they were going to fix the problem and the guy was screaming for them to replace it, which is utterly unreasonable on his part.
Apple and a random mobile phone maker are not the same thing. A corporate-owned Apple Store can do a lot more than a locally-owned authorized shop.
So Ubuntu puts out a bugfix and everything works dandy again. Graphics drivers improve under Linux in a month or so. What a shocker.

Yes, you can monkey around online, but it's so much handier to have a full tutorial in one place that you can chop through. I just ordered it via Amazon. I once needed to pull a few graphics files off of an Apple IIgs that were made in Paintworks. Unfortunately, they were in a format that no one else used. After some digging, I was able to find a program called Super-High-Res Convert that could convert them to GIF files. From there, I had to put them on an 800k floppy, then put said floppy into an old Mac (with IIgs disk format support) that had ethernet on it and a drive old enough to support 800k floppies. From there, I was able to pull it over the network. Worked fine.
And to expand on that, let's compare kiddie porn and regular porn. Regular porn can be made, distributed, and possessed legally. There are certain restraints, but by and large, it's legit end-to-end. You CANNOT legally make kiddie porn even if possession were legalized. However, by legalizing possession, demand comes out. Now that people don't need to be afraid of getting busted and thrown in a hole for having it, they won't be so shy about trying to get it. You know what that does? It creates a market. It creates demand. And it creates companies and groups that will attempt to capitalize on it. With the ability to make money off of it, you just created a demand for the creation of it, which is incredibly illegal. Guess what? You just got even more kids hurt by legalizing kiddie porn. People will be more likely to make it and do it if they can get a bunch of cash under the table, and a lot of these companies will be more than happy to accept it (perhaps releasing it to Rapidshare or something else first to make it look like they didn't commission it outright) without question.
That depends on your degree. Some college careers are in certain industries that really can't get outsourced, and those who do will never be completely outsourced. For instance, a lot of programming is outsourced these days, but there are still plenty of companies in the US hiring programmers because they need to be able to keep certain parts of their business close to home.

I've seen self-taught guys that were very good at some things in their field, but utterly fucking SUCKED at others because they only focused on certain things and failed pretty hard when they tried to branch out. Get a formal education and you get a much broader foundation. Granted, this isn't always the case. Some self-taught guys are phenomenal and some idiots coasted through college, but quite frankly, saying that the degree isn't worth anything is just laughably fucking stupid on your part. I sense bitterness. Did you rack up tons of debt with a liberal arts degree and then get pissed when it didn't catapult you to the top?
Than a GTX 580, sure, but a GTX 570? They're pretty evenly matched, and at that point, there's no major benefit to one or the other. The GTX 570 has the advantage of CUDA and better GPGPU support, too.
