Sounds to me like quite a few people need to create some word documents of the exact same size as the files searched for, name them accordingly, then orchestrate a file sharing orgy amongst themselves to create a rather large target for this fool proof system. Flood'em with bullshit, then see how credible they are...

Yes,{BL}Ticklemonster in the scale. Thanks for the words! (now I have to wonder... this being an A 1 thread and all...)

Ubuntu totally kicks for me. Only two things keeping me in XP, uscripting (which can be done in linux, and I have it all sorted out, I'm just too lazy to take that dive), and archiving DVDs is too touch and go in linux for me.

For just once, I'd like to see the higher brain function kick in and see people run with a gag. Surely there's enough people here at /. that can come up with enough technobabble to really play along with even the most obvious prank and run with it. What a great brain workout it would be to try to come up with enough total hogwash to support some of the gags people come up with on A1.

It takes one brain cell to post that it's a prank, but it takes a host to try and perpetuate the bullshit. And in the spirit of A1, would that not be more fun anyway?

So um yeah, I wonder how they deal with harmonics on long runs of pipe, eh?

Why is it that the further south you go into South America, the older the civilizations appear to be? Seems like they keep finding all kinds of ancient ruins there. Now what is the likelihood that people would wander from the north all the way down there before creating the civilizations they created? Could the Americas have been populated from Antarctica instead, before the polar shift? Prolly not, I guess there were no humans back then, but still...

I don't get the whining about gimp. To me, it looks like someone took the parts of photoshop that don't get "windowed" and "de-windowed" them. I mean what is the difference in gimp's and photoshop's gui? The wrapper/window.

Guess what? Slide that background in photoshop off the the side, and gee, you don't have access to file, edit, etc. but it looks like gimp.

BUT, in gimp, you have file, edit, etc. in two different places at all times. What is the fascination with that freaking backdrop in photoshop? Gimpshop is a poor excuse for trying to appease these crybabies who want that security blanket, but I find it a total waste. Yes, I love photoshop, but I also think gimp kicks ass. I wish gimp had more stuff like photoshop, but I do not miss the wrapper/window/security blanket/whatever you want to call it at all, and I don't see why people stay so hung up on it.

The great evil will be when it allows America to fall with no more than a whimper. Do not confuse the issue. We all know what supposed liberties we give up in order to keep our nation safe. I still have the basic liberties I always had AS LONG AS I ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITIES THAT COME WITH THESE LIBERTIES. I have the freedom to speak my mind, but I know better than to think this means I ought to exercise it for no reason other than to hear the noise I make. Terrorized and diligent are two different things. I get tired of the extreme left wing liberal bent of this site. I almost didn't click to see the "utopian" blather here, but figured I'd see how the mod points posts are going. I'm not surprised in the least. You people are disgusting here. All posts that are typical of the left wing get high points every time. It's like you all are having an orgy of "see who can post the most insane stuff and pat each other on the back with mod points". "Free an open society at all costs!!!" "vive le open borders!!!"

Any post that is anti-diligence or anti-keep America safe gets high points. It makes me sick to think that there are people like you out there who would gladly see America cave in and pretend there's nothing out there going bump in the night. I would bet that if you could get a grasp of the mindset in each collapsed civilization, you would find your mindset at the front each time, and the civilizations crumbling beneath the weak spine you propagate. It's the Frenchification of America, and it's happening on our watch. Yay. I hope your grand-daughters like wearing full body bags and staying home with no chance of and education.
