I wonder if the management actually understands how big a screw up this is. I'm sure they understand that "stolen data = bad" but not what a ridiculously easy exploit this was. If they did understand it probably wouldn't have happened.
Which is to say we already have socialized medicine in the US, it's just very badly managed. Putting in a proper system of socialized medicine would be much better and cheaper. The only other choice is letting people die in the streets.
Not sure full service helps. The only time I've seen someone spill gas all over the ground is the guy at a full service pump. I've never done it myself.
By the borehole, which sounds like it's been there for a while. By the water, which may be flowing into the borehole from the surface. By the humans, which from looking at the picture are gathering samples without wearing gloves or a mask, or at least are visiting the area without gloves and masks. I don't see any precautions against these.
I agree with you, but this still has implications for the possibility of extraterrestrial life. Mars used to be much warmer and wetter, so it is possible that life developed under more ideal conditions and continued to survive under harsh conditions.
But my doubts come because TFA says the worms were "found in water flowing from a borehole about one mile below the surface". That seems like plenty of opportunity for contamination. I'd be very skeptical that there are worms one mile below the surface of the earth in locations not touched by human activity. If you found them in a freshly drilled borehole with no water flowing that would be much more interesting.
If you had an LED light bulb it might last long enough to be functionally equivalent to the fixture. I think it is pretty silly either way. This feature will consume additional electricity, and if you want to turn the light bulb on remotely the circuit has to be always on even when the bulb is off. This does not seem to be a good way to save energy.
So she can just sit on her butt for the first 2 years and collect a huge paycheck. She is still effectively taking a delayed bribe for granting a favor.
And in the meantime I am sure she can provide lots of juicy insider info about the FCC players (like who else would be willing to take a bribe). And she could direct a team of lobbyists as long as she didn't show up herself. And as other mentioned, she can still lobby congress, just not the executive branch.
Right, in my area I have a choice between Comcast and Qwest. Qwest has the worst customer experience I have ever seen in my life, and crappy connections as well. So not much of a choice. Most of the country doesn't fair any better for choice.
The "flying a plane into a reactor" myth needs to be re-opened - the "debunking" was all focused on the containment vessel being strong enough to resist the impact - sure it's nice that it's strong enough, but the cooling system is mostly outside that containment vessel, and as we saw with Fukushima if you damage that you can cause a meltdown.
If I had to guess, I would say the GP poster is definitely not one of the people who votes for it to be illegal. Given the sentiment he expressed, it's strange you would think otherwise.
The sites that provide it are probably all overseas, in countries with lax enforcement or little cooperation with the US. That makes it hard for the FBI to enforce anything.
No, I'm pretty sure they give you superpowers.
How about we say "ignorant people" rather than assholes. "Asshole" implies they are being deliberately obnoxious.

They are using activist as a synonym for liberal. Which works because liberals love to run around calling themselves activists.
Not to mention that if it is funded by taxes then the government has the power to censor things it doesn't like by withholding the money.

The CEOs get paid a lot even when they clearly made the wrong decision.
How do you explain CEO pay?
Sorry, but I'm gong to have to take you analysis with a grain of salt.
Thanks, that makes a big difference :)
There are over 10^28 IPv6 addresses for every person. So even if you individually address every Christmas tree light you won't run out.

I believe you mean noodly appendages

And if congress acts swiftly they may that in place by 2025. I'm sure Netflix will survive until then.

We've always been at war with Eastasia

That might just be considered an act of war. And I think it's rather difficult to get GPS coordinates based on just an IP address.

egrets, I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention ...
