I'd imagine that this credit system would be in addition to a monthly fee. So you pay $10 a month and then each movie you download without uploading an equal amount you'll pay for. That $10/month is always there, you can't avoid paying it even if you upload gigs a night.
Well after some thinking about this. How does Costco give such deep discounts?
They have membership fees that allow them to make up some of the loss they may get from selling a product at a discount to undercut other companies. While they also get cheaper prices from companies since they buy in such huge bulk and then the customer buys in bulk as well, their revenue from members is the same. If some customers don't even come into a Costco that month then they made money from that customer and sold nothing at a loss to that person. Therefore they can absorb a loss from another customer much easier. This is also not taking into account that some products have higher profit margins.
We do have one problem though, the 14th Amendment, which says that any person born or naturalized in the US is a citizen. Of course that happens to include corporations as has been sucessfully argued many times in the past. as can be seen here (It's a.pdf sorry). So when Microsoft does something Gates and Ballmer can't be taken to jail. There are many that want the 14th Amendment to be amended, however it has not proved effective.
Something interesting though is that the 14th Amendment is also what gives us the right to sue the corporation in the first place.
Real world numbers like what? Frames per second ina game? What will that mean to people who don't play computer games? Maybe you would like them to show how many seconds it takes to apply a filter in Photoshop, which won't apply to people who don't use Photoshop. So some number has to be used because people like to hear that one number is bigger than another.
So you wouldn't tell it to a Vietnamese person, but it's ok if it's written in a public forum that Vietnamese people can read just fine? I'm Vietnamese and I know when I read that I wasn't amused because for just the same reasons that we don't use other racial terms, they're offensive. I'm not a person who normally cares about being politically correct, but using derogatory comments is something that is used to put a group down, which is not correct in any way.
University of California, San Diego. Only in some classes though, up to the professsor. I've noticed it is mostly used in GE writing classes, perhaps due to the fact that most students try to take the easiest way out of the class that they are forced to take? Which I'm not condoning, but trying to find a reason.
Well I have uni-lateral hearing, which means that I can't hear anything at all in one ear. So I can attest to not having the ability to use hearing to pinpoint locations. If someone calls my name in a large area, it will take me a long time to find the person. Most of the time I can get by simply by making sure I move my head around to ensure that I can hear things around me, which has actually made me more sensitive to lots of sounds since I have to constantly listen. Things like the telephone and headphones make me not able to hear the outside world, which is difficult sometimes when I have to use them. So a system that required stereo hearing would be lost on me totally.
But of course on Kazaa you can see other users' shared files, which means that if you dl an anime episode or a single from Weezer, you'll be able to find what a person who you're dl-ing from enjoys and maybe your tastes will be the same. This is what sometimes helps me find out what else I would like to experience.

I was going to mod the parent +1 Interesting, which it is, but I don't totally trust the article and I'd like to see more sources reporting this.
Of course, isn't helping a small group better than helping none at all?

Probably written above, but is this a new use for a couple OC'ed Athlons?
but did anyone notice that the rebel ships had red lasers and the imperial ships had green lasers which kinda contradicts the lightsabers...
