Wonder if this will sping up into localized phone services like wifi and cheap fiber based internet did for small towns. The whole town chips in and gets to kick out the big corp. and run the local service as the citizan see fit.
Plus it will be cool to run in my house!

Yes, I to miss Futurama to....
But the DVD volumes 1 - 4 are out in stores! (each with 4 DVD's of shows) Best investment I've made since buying stock in ValueJet and Enron!!!
Maybe you can get them for X-mas, just make sure your inside before Santa comes!!!
-Memo to Microsoft... "I for one, welcome our new monopolistic overlords"
In America, you do NOT have a RIGHT to own a VCR... (One that skips bad things or not)
You have the RIGHT to FREEDOM... which gives you the PRIVLIDGE to own a VCR...
With a PRIVILEGE comes RESPONSIBILITY... such as respect to the content creator and/or provider.
Skipping commercials on TV (Tivo style) is bad because it hurts the business that NEEDS those commercials in order to stay in business. If everyone can just skip them at will, then no one will advertise and cable costs would skyrocket.
The DVD your buying and paying for the FULL version... just like a ticket to the movies... Cover your eyes, or the player skips 1 second ahead of the nude shot... same thing...
There will always be extremists who want "their" content shown only in the way they intended, but now they are infringing on your rights, FREEDOM.
So we really shouldn't say that we have the "right" to do something here in America... as most of the stuff people argue, I mean... discuss on slashdot are more of a privilege given to us because we have the right to certain freedoms.

Now I wont have to tell my kid to go out side and play... exposing her to the sun... she can stay inside and become a pale /. reading geek like me! :)
