Mindspring's DSL rollout *does* include NT compatible software. And yes, they *will* support *nix/*BSD OS's. However, if you're on the latter, you have to get your NIC working first.;)
Much to chagrin of both MindSpring/Netcom and the users dialing into that PoP, the company that runs it (not mspg/netcom, they lease the number) is experimenting with a cache server, rather like AOHell.
So yes, it might have happened there, but it certainly doesn't apply to the South Carolina pop I dial into. =)
No matter how much you don't like to do it, it is your job. The company owns the network, therefore, they 'own' all the data on it as well. Post something to an internal list/newsgroup that the email will be scanned as a warning, and scan a week later. If it's corporate, it ain't private.
Has anyone ever really given a damn about what.org and.net meant? Even my company has bought all three, and even some common abbreviations of it. So has Microsoft. (MSFT.NET for example.)

They also spat out beta drivers for AWE64 on OS/2 and then sat on them forever without releasing anything. In my experience, they just waffle around and do whatever appears to be popular at the moment. If there's a bug, they never seem to keen on fixing it. Seem to always blame something else. If I recall correctly, there was also a minor little war going back and forth when they were trying to blame IBM for lack of SB drivers somehow... They have no concept of loyalty to customers, unlike other companies I know, which are much more deserving of my support!
Did any company, even IBM, support OS/2 as much as the people that used it would have liked? I don't think it's fair to single out CL about the lack of support issue, Microsoft's just as bad. 8)
I've never heard of any other ISP going to the level that we go to to stop spam. We have the spaminator, we contact the originating ISP's we disconnect our own customers if we catch them in progress, and we null route addresses that are in the process of trying to send us spam. Look for some new and exciting highly advanced stuff soon.
Like the customizable Spaminator that lets people filter out spam email that get through the defaults?:)
Netcom's been sighted for using an abuse "pui" bot that "tries" to understand headers, and fails miserablly to detect faked headers. Let's hope Mindspring can gather a white hat with their abuse department.
We're working on it. Our Spaminator (tm) gets most of the spam that hits our servers, and we're adding more and more spammers to it every day.
It's not perfect, but it's better than NetCom's.

Its a constant in Atlanta... getting "circuts are busy" or failed connects. That and their use of buggy 3COM Total Control racks that drop UDP packets so consistently that at prime time its quite possible to see 100% packet loss.
Two words for ya son : Telco Issues
MindSpring (and most ISP's) have had major issues with the Baby Bells (BellSouth, Bell Atlantic, PacBell, etc), ESPECIALLY the ones that also provice internet access (i.e. BellSouth.Net)
Operator messages and fast busy signals are Telephone Company problems, not ISP issues. Bitch at the phone company.
And as for UDP packets, you're just having bad luck. I can play StarCraft on battle.net with the best of them, with no packet loss whatsoever. :)
