You are largely correct, but I strongly disagree with the conclusions you draw. Why should we have to use images for email addresses just so a bot doesn't pick it up, why should we bow down to the spammers and hide contact info:

Wouldn't it be nice if we could actually use email as it was intended?

Sorry for the repeat posting, but I thought it through a little more... How does this apply to paypal? I for one don't use them because of the horror stories. But they seem to be doing alright.
For GoDaddy changing the terms materially, drastically to steal from/rip off customers would result in commercial suicide. As an online business the one thing they have going for them is the trust of their users and their reputation. They loose this and they loose business, they have a lot of business so the short term gains wouldn't match the long term losses.
I use a PO Box and an email account I can throw away if things get too bad. I think I might try the 'protected' option next time as the price isn't too bad.
Perhaps I'm missing the sarcasm here Perhaps just a little?
I think Fox earns its reputation because it tries to be bi-partisan, whereas others try (and fail) to be non-partisian. Also by comparision to CBS, NBC, ABC anything looks right of center.
I could just use a proxy but still! This didn't happen till that md5 article so I just figured/. got hacked, a password got discovered, or somebody dropped the ball, (because of the md5 being part of it) but then I could post, and now I can't, oh well, I suppose I have better things to do than troll/. see ya
In defense this may be overrated, troll, flamebait, maybe, but it's not wholely offtopic...

I doubt they would get away with this in America, just preempting the greedy American companies arguements. Can't wait for 2008 though:) we'll see what happens there...
found it!!! Progressquest is a great little game, esp for fans of Diablo 2 or everquest. This really brings game playing into perspective and is perhaps what the author is suggesting taken to the extreme.
no it was little game that you start up and text describing what your character does scrolls by, he gains levels, get items, and quashes strangely named things, really would fit this disscussion great if only I could remember what it was called.
It might have left, but if you've ever watched a turtle you know they can wander off without you noticing because you got bored watching said turtle try to run.
Not much here that isn't already in any gaming forum, though ussually less verbose. His ideal solution to gaining skills is to set a goal for your character when you leave and when you come back your character has made some progress, (reminds me of... well I can't remember the name...little help.. not everquest but...? ). Other methods of achieving this include World of Warcraft's "rest points" which punish players for playing too long by giving them fewer experience points on kills (Blizzard's euphamism:they'll tell you its a reward taking beaks).
Not WiFi but my wireless keyboard (or reciever) is affected by my new cell phone, if the phone is near it (like 4 feet or so) it often causes keys to rrrrrrepeat or skp. I think it has to do with a DoS on the feedback but I don't really know much in this area.
I have found that when I work on personal projects, a couple games amongst them, I get bored with them once the hard parts (those that I haven't had much experience with ie new to me) are done and bug free (as best I can tell;) ). I then get distaracted by something else that catches my eye and proceed to half finish it, then.....

no, because you won't be achieving a perfect vacuum, hence, your "vacuum" is in fact a "lighter than air gas"

I'll bet it wouldn't take much effort to write a 1D shooter, assuming a pixel to be infinitely thin....hmmm I I think I'll do that tonight....
Nethack!!!!!
