    I used this script to install both compiz and xgl: http://sonique54.free.fr/xgl/xgl.htm it saves alot of time getting it started (at least in Debian Testing (Etch)).

    As long as there are multiple logs (and there usually are) faked logs will likely betray inconsistencies with other logs.


    yea but the problem is that if the justice system is against you they will care little about 'fairness' and believe the 'inconsistencies' or other lies.. just to hang you.

    it's not the data that comes from me that i'm worried about, its what the bad guys (ie. the government) can do with it after it leaves my computer-- ie. they can change and manipulate it in ways that are untrue as to what i said or did initially.

    I know from experience that that's not how everyone presents it - just read slashdot at a low-ish threshold, and you'll see examples what I'm talking about.


    Actually there is ALOT of important and interesting comments 'below' /.'s 'standard threshold'.. where people can see for *themselves* IF they are interested in what /.'s management is semi-censoring, all in the name of 'must read' information.

    It is important for people to realize that M$ with apparently alot help from the likes of /. management are not only spreading FUD, but M$ is doing all it can to bring viruses, discontent and worse to the OSS community.

    If I read you correctly you are saying that on a place like /., where there is more of a community approach that it doesn't need to be moderated as much.


    If this were true, /. definitely does NOT agree with this.

    Just look at how long I have a been a member (almost three years) and the quality of posts and stories I have submited-- but I am tagged with the lowest Karma rating possible-- (Terrible) which is basically reserved for spammers.

    /. is a car out of control.

    This would not be that important, except sooo may people have come to know /. as THEE place for important tech news and in depth discussion of such.

    The only reason I continue to post as a member is to show SlashDot's management, that I have NOTHING to be ashamed of.

    I predict that unless /. changes it's 'attitude' that WE need them instead of the other way around.. it will continue to dive into the abyss of the dot com bust.

    This article at first I thought ironic.. but actually it is the first substantial article I have seen here.. in quite some time.

    It's Gentoo based (but not by Gentoo)-- both 32/64bit.

    It can be installed as well as used as a LiveCD.

    My favorite part (so far) is the LED Glass lighting that is used for the maximize, reduce and close switches for windows :]

    There are tons of switches and knobs to adjust your 'set' toooo!!

    And if we in the community don't both defend and attack this beast, OSS will soon be outlawed or worse.


    M$ is only good at one thing, and that is creating 'bad things'.

    Hense the problems arrising from the departures of such men as Garrett are just the tip of the iceberg.

    Although still more FUD than anything, there is an obvious infussion of maleware infiltrating most Linux distros.

    Since M$ is part of the system, and the system protects it's own, fighting this 'legally' is definitely out-of-the-question.

    Attacks on M$ products, including viruses, dos attacks on their sites and supporters.. and any 'real-life' actions-- are the ONLY things these monsters will respond to.

    Debian is far from dead. I have confidence there are more 'good guys' on top of these problems than bad ones.

    I am building a distro based on Debian because after looking at all the others, it is STILL the best all around distro for most situations.

    The ONLY way we will lose this fight, is if we give up.

    Wireless N tec will help in our (the peoples) desire to take back our InterNet and put the big boys out of buisness (and in jail, where they belong) for what they have done/doing to OUR networks.

    There will/should be repeaters and such to solve that problem, just like with other wireless.

    I've purchased several servers, routers, switches and leased-line services from other providers to build an albeit very small corner of the Internet.

    The equipment cost me well over a million dollars and I pay several hundred thousand more each year to maintain it. The circuits cost another hundred grand or so each year.

    If you want to use my corner of the Internet to access the rest of it, feel free to pay me just like my other customers do and have at it.

    Otherwise, screw you. I'm going home and I'm taking my network with me.

    If it wasn't for Linus, we either would not have Unix on x86, or we'd be waiting for someone to come up with the OS so the masses could use it.

    The only reason it is taking Unix and it's varients sooo long to catch on, is because it was orignally designed for the worlds fon network and universities, and therefore was for scientist and nerds.

    Linux and other Unices are for those who 'want it', and we are really not thaht interested whether lazy people see the benefits in learning it.
