These kinds of things defeat the "nuclear option" apologists. Their arguments are all based in the premise that waste will be correctly transported and stored. I don't think so. And the consequences of a spill, even of a tiny amount, are far more dangerous than any other material we use for energy production.
Messinger didn't explain how the premium JVM would differ [from] the free version, but the premium edition will likely see performance tuning and tie-ins to Oracle's middleware.'"
Just what I need, tie-ins. I'm even willing to pay for them.
Is it? We're still waiting for the Roman Empire to come back. If your "cycle" is as long as theirs, prepare yourselves for some very, very long times in the toilet.
Is there anything he doesn't hate? Oh right, he doesn't hate Larry.
Haha, I guess you're right.
I worked at Oracle many years ago. There were a lot of crazy policies about Microsoft software, like Access was forbidden, NFS was used instead of Microsoft File Sharing, etc. And if you wanted to use alternatives to the vanilla Windows/MSOffice desktop PC the company supplied, you were greatly encouraged. In some divisions, most desktops ran Linux.
I can't see how working in a typical organisation can be intellectually stimulating for anyone. Most people I know are miserable in their jobs and would retire at this very moment, if they could.
The article you linked to is a crock of shit. The guy just talks about DDT as it is harmless, citing the facts that are convenient to him and omitting everything else.
So, DDT is effective in malaria control. Spraying cyanide would likely be, also. But it would kill more people than it would save. DDT kills many insects and other animals, accumulates in the environment and the body for a long time and it has proven toxic and carcinogenic effects. Also, it spreads to the rest of the world easily. Do you really think we should be using that to fight malaria and causing long-term effects that could kill many more people than malaria? Come on, you don't need to be a scientist to know this.
Also, it was a scientist that created DDT, it was another that killed it. I wonder, when you say "They are just as likely to make catastrophic errors, resulting in millions of deaths" you were mentioning the former or the latter?
If think scientists are so bad, shutdown your computer, take off your clothes and go live in a cave. That's where you'd be without the evil scientists.
So, we should discriminate by religion? I propose only the Rastafarian countries be entitled to be in the Human Rights Committee. Or maybe only the Chendoistic countries.
Or maybe the UN should just ask you what countries you think should be in what committees, since you are such an enlightened dude.
It's rather sweet that you hold all of science in so high a regard. I used to. These days I see Scientists pretty much in the same was as I see politicians: I always want to follow the money.
Even if that was true, I'd take scientists over politicians any day of the week. To be a scientist, you have to be, at the very least, above-average intelligent. But not to be a politician, being a lying, greedy pig is just enough.
Back in college there were two kinds of students: The geeks, who were really interested about computers and electronics, and the greedy, who used to say "I'm in this for the money, computer engineer is a good career choice". None of the latter finished their degrees. And, in general, the former are better, professionally speaking, now.
I agree. I think having rubeola and tuberculosis is so much safer than taking shots that have been tested intensively for years under the supervision of scientists and health authorities of the entire world. What do those guys know?
I hope whatever troll defeated Wikipedia on the battlefield of internet trolling is enjoying a bottle of champagne and a blowjob tonight
And looks like you'll be giving it.
Sing in a whining voice:
Has he lost his mind
Can he see or is he blind
The expression "wisdom of crowds" always brings up a mental image of a cattle stampede.

.. every day the manager comes in with a new idea and the team jumps on it. This is called a sprint hijack and can destroy morale and productivity.
Oh, shit. Do you work in my company?
You're mistaking assholes for conservatives
You're right, an asshole at least has some utility. Where would we shit out of?
I would try to reason with you, but since you prefer to resort to cheap insult, I'd rather avoid wasting my time.

Quoting the Heritage Foundation on social issues is like quoting Mein Kampf on Anthropology.
Welfare Promotes Single Parent Families Which Promots Crime - USA
If bullshit like this was true, Europe would have massive crime rates and the US would be a crime-free paradise.
Conservatives keep us from moving to fast, or doing too much of the leap-before-you look
Yeah, the Iraq war is a good example of that.
This is incredibly stupid. The word "liberal" doesn't even mean the same thing in different cultures. In my country, "liberal" means right-wing.

You don't know how much Larry Ellison hates Microsoft. The internal policy of Oracle is profoundly anti-Microsoft.
They have activities in nursing homes. Just many of the old guys can't perform any kind of activity any more.

If you want to get a comment modded +5 Insightful, you just have to type something like "Taxes? We don' need no stinkin' taxes!"

and the willingness to place the worst nations in leadership positions.
You mean, like the USA?
I use Linux in my home computer and have no problems with it. And I'd use it at work if they allowed me to. This article is stupid FUD.
Knowing both the country and the big city I can assure you neither the water or the girls are cleaner on the former.
