I love how companies think they can just claim something is popular these days without it actually being so and everyone just seems to buy it... Just look at Ashley Simpson's musical career... she was pretty much a nobody; then Mtv and the like claimed she was this big deal (lies) and a large portion of people just bought into it...no wonder the US gov't is getting away with so much these days...[/rant]
He said to restrict transfer, not licence... If you want to just come up with the idea and farm it out to some company to produce You can still retain your patent, you just give them explict right to use it.
This is exactly the problem with our patent system! You should not be able to buy a patent!!! The whole idea of a patent is that an inventor has came up with something new and needs a time of leadway (not permanent) to get his product to market before other people and businesses try to compete with him. This is also why corporations should not be allowed to hold patents...it defeats the entire reason behind them existing in the first place! (And in a 100% capitalist society there would be no patents, so don't give me any of that "you're a communist shit")
One is probably the length of time the battery retains it's charge as while the other is how long the battery can be recharged until it's unusable... (no, I didn't RTFA...just guessing)
Look at Doom3, Halo2 or Ridick: Butcher Bay on the Xbox right now... they all feature normal mapping and many of the same lighting effects that the Unreal3 engine has... People that are big into graphics (like me) will be able to see a difference, but your average joe probably won't...at least not until 2nd or 3rd gen games.
With that line of thinking FF would have came out on The Genesis (first 16bit out), Saturn (first 32), and The Dreamcast (first 128bit)... FF10 was released on the PS2 the same month Xbox and GC were released, I don't see how you think PS2 was the "winner" in that they were pretty much the only show in town at that point.
I just meant that numbers are the only thing that can be "validated." Opinions are numerous and can not be validated, and no...the majority is NOT always right.
*This wasn't really directed at the parent b/c I think he probably gets it;)
"...a lot of the 'reviews' are just a "thank you for free hardware" pieces..."
Hmm...that's funny. I used to work for a review site and we always had to return the hardware after we reviewed it. Now software, that's a whole other story;)
Where's the parent's +5 Insightful? The current software industry is headed for failure regardless of open source competition. They're stagnating, and if companies would learn to work together (at least partially) w/ open source projects they might have the ability to innovate and could stand to make much more money in the long term...
You don't actually believe that RMS would post something like that as an anonymous coward right? Remember, just b/c it was modded as "funny" doesn't mean that was the posters intention people....
Your gameplay and physics should double in speed (of course it's limited at some point so it's playable), but your graphics shouldn't be doubling from your processor...now if you had an SLI setup, it might be a different story.
Perhaps there should be a system for all of these sites to verify each other's data. For example, if more than one site benchmarks the same hardware they could combine their scores for a more accurate average? As far as the written portion, it's all opinion so you can never have a truely "valid" review there...
I have a friend who went to a chicken farm to fix some electrical problems for them and says he can never stomach to eat chicken ever again after what he saw...seriously. He says that most of them had cancerous growths all over them and weird deformations...sorry KFC fans.
As a rule of thumb, if your dialogue box asks a question that's over 7 words, people probably won't bother reading it...but some still won't even bother with reading something that short even...
In responce to your "Final Fantasy 13?" comment...
Like it or not, the system with Final Fantasy is the one that wins the console wars with every prior battle. NES, SNES, PS1 & PS2 all had the FF series and were the top selling game consoles of their time (and no, Crystal Chronicals doesn't count...it's a completely different game). Now the interesting thing is, SquareEnix has not announced who they'll be supporting in the next gen, everyone assumes Sony, but we don't really know yet. For all we know they might go multiplatform this time around? The other strange/interesting factor this time is also that the original creator of the FF series is set to release at least two games for the Xbox2, and they'll probably be RPGs I bet...
"Japanese developer support for the XB2 does not necessarily mean Japanese popular support. Games may sell systems initially..."
If there are lots of good games, people will buy the system. The games are always what decides whether a console is a winner or not. The main problem with the Xbox in Japan is that 90% of it's games are American or European and apparently a large portion of Japanese gamers only like Japanese games. You have to also take into account that the Japanese market is not as big as it used to be, their numbers have been dwendling while both American gamers and game developers have been growing and growing...
Last time I checked, they make rechargable alkalines...or at least used to. (If I'm wrong I'm sure you'll all let me know real quick)

You are aware of the whole "thou shalt not kill" thing right?

"The New York Times is reporting that Panasonic will start selling (Biometric scan required to prove your value as a human being)..."
Instead of constantly complaining about the login requirements, why don't you guys just start posting the entire text along with your headlines???
Maybe they should just change it to "Anywhere OnLine"?
well, you could perhaps just have the glow in the dark part as a ring around the base of the bulb so you don't obstruct it when it's on...
Here's an example of what I'm talking about...

Acutally it's pretty cheap these days...Free even.
This is the kind of stuff he was talking about.
I have a friend who went to a chicken farm to fix some electrical problems for them and says he can never stomach to eat chicken ever again after what he saw...seriously. He says that most of them had cancerous growths all over them and weird deformations...sorry KFC fans.
Would you call that going back to 0-bit computing?

Not even taking AOL's reputation into account, if you are using AMERICA OnLine in Europe you're probably not the brightest bulb in the box...
