And commenting on other women while I'm there isn't the way to go either. I had this group project in university with 3 otherwise very nice guys, but they would sometimes stop a conversation about the project to look at girls that would pass nearby and then proceed to discuss how hot they were. I mean, sheesh! Keep your hormones in check! :-)

Like some other posters have pointed, I don't think the voter should be allowed to keep a paper trail. That being said, here is what seems to be a good system. I saw it a few years ago for an election in Canada (can't remember which one though). The ballot-paper looked like a standardized test where you have to fill the circle corresponding to your answer. After filling the right circle, the voter would then feed his ballot-paper to a machine that would read the vote and then "swallow" the sheet to store it in what I presume was a locked compartment (somebody was there to assist voters that needed help, but it was obviously impossible for that person to see for whom the vote was cast). That way, they had a computer counting the votes and a paper trail.

Shostak took that into account. He estimates between 10,000 and 1,000,000 radio-transmitters (planets with intelligent life). Considering the number of stars in our galaxy alone (100 billion according to the article), that only means we'll have to look everywhere in the galaxy to have a good chance of finding something. In the end, the uncertainty from the Drake equation doesn't affect his estimate at all.

Err... I live in Quebec and was raised in french. Yet, I have trouble understanding what you wrote. Next time you want to show off, at least don't use Babelfish. And by the way, at lot of people in Montreal (the biggest city in Quebec) don't speak a word of french. They still can study and work in english. There are 2 english universities in Montreal (McGill and Concordia) and in most workplaces (especially in IT) both languages are equally used, and that's when we don't end up all speaking in english anyway. Of course, it's easier to know both languages, but that's also applicable to people that only know french.
