    Making certain jokes in the inspection line was illegal even before 9/11. I almost got the 3rd degree for making a joke about carrying a weapon when boarding a plane to Europe in 1972. So I was young and dumb. Afterwards, I saw the sign explaining how certain jokes were illegal. The concept of an illegal joke was new to me at the time. Now we've all become much more sophisticated.

    You need a smart phone for that. You can print out a bunch of verification codes and stick them in your wallet. Cell reception is not reliable.

    you can't even see the raw data from the water temperature gauge, so of course we are all too dumb to see complex health data. The temp data is manipulated so the gauge needle stays in the middle nearly all the time. Exceptions are when the engine is very cold or when it overheats. Normal fluctuations are not shown because they cause unnecessary service calls. There was a recall on Jag sedans to put a resistor in series with the temp sender to damp out needle fluctuations. My MINI does the same thing (checked with data from the OBDII port).

    Any service agency that gets a ~50% approval should be looking to improve or disband. That level of satisfaction is poor! If you are a seller on eBay with a 97% rating, that is considered pretty bad. I think the IRS would not be pleased if I paid my taxes 54% of the time.
