Does anybody else find it interesting that this is essentially the same as stem-cell research, but combined with animals? It's "ok" to do stem-cell, but with this addition, it's suddenly disgusting and wrong...
I suppose we don't need it, but there's a lot of things we don't need. What remains to be seen is whether this techno-toy will actually end up being used or not.
And besides, if a robot takes over a human job, the human will find some other task to do. Used to be people had to do huge math problems by hand... now there's computers and calculators. Doesn't mean the scientists get to just sit back and have a few cold ones, though. <g>
This does seem to be one of the big problems, as he mentioned a couple times in the interview - the little guy (independent, or just an artist) gets run over in the mad dash for power. Independent labels and artists are simply too diffuse to have an real say.
