I didn't invent the Fairlight CMI, but I, and a group of about 6 others, were given the chance to improve it and make it as good as we could with the technology available.
Went on to work for a bigger company, but what we did for Fairlight Instruments was the COOLEST thing I've done in my career. And this is with 20 years hind site.
Done stuff more fun, but that isn't the question. Having a family (I've a wife and 3 kids, oldest 20) isn't quite the same as being world leaders in your career, even for a short time.
"After inventing fire, the wheel and Art, Trevor (Modern man) is introduced to a new word... NERD!" (by a Nethanderal)
It has been those that have changed the world, advanced it, that have been called Nerds or Geeks by the great unwashed that couldn't rub two sticks together to make fire, or program their VCR.
NOT everyone is a geek.
You don't consider youself a geek/nerd for being into electronic music????
I've found this to be very true:-

and believe me, I've had a lot to do with electronic music and other artistic endeavors, like the above cartoon, and know the above to be very true of myself!!!!
The problem with the credit is it can belong to more than just the people getting named.
3 Fairlight Instruments guys got awards too. One of them, Chris Alfred carried on from the work I (and a Chris Prall) did, but we don't get a mention... and we started it..

But, if it was up to what people look at on my web site, than this Nerd! cartoon appears to be the coolest thing I've done.....
