  1. Re:Subject matter on Free Ads Can Be Really Expensive · · Score: 2, Informative

I recently competed in a similar advertising campaign with Chipotle. The difference is this: Chipotle opened theirs up to film and advertising schools, making it a competition with a financial incentive. I'm not sure what Heinz is offering or who they opened it up to. An average Joe who's not familiar with advertising or video production isn't going to make you an amazing commercial. Anyway, my team's Chipotle commercial was the best, winning $20,000 for us and the school.

  2. RFID Craze on Students Tracked By RFID · · Score: 2, Informative

It was interesting for me to read this, I actually used to work for the MIS department of Spring Independent School District and my mom is working there now in an elementry school.

The tracking system they're using only applies to students riding on the district buses (as they are the only ones the district is liable for) and I think it actually makes sense for use in elementry schools. You don't know how often a student accidently misses a bus, gets on the wrong bus, or even the unthinkable happening. However, this system really wouldn't be useful for middle/high school students as they can take care of themselfs.

I don't see any real benefit to using RFID vs any other card technology to implement this system. It seems like it would be much more cost effective to have a barcode or magnetic card strip. Anyway, that district pushing the cutting edge of technology and we'll have to see the ultimate outcome of their actions.

Maybe the government should take an idea from Orgazmo (IMDB) and use an orgazmorator to stimulate an orgasm in the victim?

Think about it: Wouln't you rather be taken in by the police in a non-lethal and pleasurable fashion?

While whatever causing the disturbance can cause your remote to stop operating, there is no way that random RF interference can cause your car and garage doors to start opening. All these systems use a set "code" of pulses - so it takes a lot more than just broadcasting on the right freqency to make something happen.
