Two issues seem readily apparent to me:
1.
Good drama relies on character development and a strong narrative, rather than technobable laden dialogue. (Part of the reason why the new Battlestar Galactica series is so much better than Star Trek ever was.)
2.
Anyone who thinks that Hollywood and the US government should work collaboratively together ought to pick up the most recent issue of The Walrus (http://www.walrusmagazine.com/article.pl?sid=05/0 7/07/1748233) and read the article "Arsenal of Illusion". In a nutshell: the Pentagon is like any other branch of government - interested only in expanding its sphere of influence and increasing its budget. Scary stuff when you think about it.
We have a slightly-puritanical mindset that we have to work for everything.
Yeah. It's called "The Second Law of Thermodynamics", or more commonly, "There's No Such Thing As A Free Lunch".
I've always written down my passwords. You just have make sure to keep them on the top of the Mountain of Despair, beyond the River of Doom.
Total security!
There's a girlfriend/wife application in there somewhere:
"And scientists from the NASA Ames Research Center developed speech recognition technology that allows users to speak silently. The scheme uses throat nerve activity rather than acoustics to glean information about what a person is saying."
For the same reason that many straight people object to gay marriage: it challenges, or is an affront to their view of the world and their thoughts on how a life should be lived.
A public good is defined as something that is neither rivalrous, nor excludable. Google is both. GMail is both. National defense is not, air is not, but water is.
Right. Because everyone's going to go see Spider-Man for the plot. Just like all the unexpected twists in Lord of the Rings. (Man! If only THAT movie hadn't been spoiled by JRRT, it might have made some coin.)
15 years in a print magazine is hardly a recent post. Surely there's a statute of limitations on these things...

It will probably be useful to keep children (and execs) occupied on planes...
You should work through lunch, and leave early.
Hard to say. Will I be able to use Google to find the change in my sofa?

That's a fabulous idea. Especially since people pay so much for browsers.
