Banks ARE pretty secure...such that the every-day user can't break into them, but those who really want to CAN. It happens all the time. Banks are contacted by people who have accessed lists of account numbers and their associated information, and demand a ransom or else they'll let the news outlets know that the bank has been broken into. The banks often pay to avoid massive withdrawals and only later involve the FBI. Banks try everything within their power to prevent people from knowing that their security has been breached.
Hopefully, no one would want such events to be tolerated in our voting system.
