If your passcode was something like: "IKilledMySpouseInSept2024" (assuming it was 2025), I believe that would be self-incriminating.
So, if you were to pick a passcode that is in itself incriminating the 5th Amendment would apply if you were forced to divulge it. (If you were forced to enter it, and no one was watching, that might be something different).
This is exactly right and it is intentional. This is just like withholding taxes that hide from people the true cost of their tax burden.
The power-hungry politicians WANT to keep people ignorant of the true tax burden. Complaining about "corporate taxes" just confuses the ignorant and uninformed which serves only politicians. It is useful to them also to divide and conquer so that there are fights just like this. Where one side is arguing for higher corporate taxes "for fairness" while not understanding that THEY and everyone else are going to be the ones paying.
It is a great ploy from Washington (and other world capitals) to keep the un-educated upset and ready to follow them over a cliff.
The best solution is as you said - people pay taxes, and there is no withholding. There is no masking of the size of government and the tax burden. No hiding behind ignorance while allowing yourself to be manipulated.
I haven't seen it discussed, but transcription is one of the most important features to Google and it is a large reason why they are willing to offer Google Voice for free. Why you ask? Training. Google voice's free transcription is a huge voice to text training database.
I have been using it since before it was Google Voice (e.g. grandcentral) and this was an important reason for Google to acquire it.
Google gets a LOT of value from every voice mail that comes in, is transcribed, and then is rated by users as to how useful it is.
Yes, it is good already, but not nearly perfect and they are working on it for one reason - voice search. And voice search is an up-coming Google killer-app that Bing/MSFT and Yahoo have no answer to.
If you are just going to rotate the people in Congress and change their priorities, no one will win. That is just a matter of who is going to pick who's pockets and then who is going to divide the spoils between their own followers whether it is unions or corporations. The only way you are going to get trust and honesty in government is to reduce its power so that you don't have all the power hungry people viciously fighting over the spoils. As has been said, Democracy is two wolves and sheep deciding who to have for dinner. Changing who the wolves are won't change the sheep's fate. And WE are the sheep. The power-hungry politicians are the wolves.
For a truly honest debate about the power of government - from war to size to control - something like http://www.stopwithholding.com/ is the best solution. It promotes transparency and discussion.
>to 'force "consumers" to buy what they're told to buy -- corporate "content,"
Where is the force? My heavens, if they really are using force (e.g. guns, knives etc) then the criminal courts need to get involved.
If you don't like it, don't download it or buy it. If you do like what artists have done, then be willing to pay for it.
If you really believe in free music, then go out there, learn to play an instrument, write some music, record it and give it away. Get some friends in your area or on-line to play other parts. Encourage others to do so. Don't forget you have to buy or rent an instrument, and get some lessons or books, spend a lot of time learning and writing music and lyrics. You may need something to record with and record on to. If you are popular you may need a site with lots of bandwidth (youtube could work here for free).
It is not rocket science. In fact it sounds more like "Millions of people forcing the artists to work for free or feeling free to steal music." If you don't like the record companies, find some local bands, get together and start your own, but make sure you don't charge anything for your time to record and digitize music. Also find out if the local bands really want to work for free.

>>>become entrepreneurs like Steve Job"
Or they might end up posting on Slashdot about some guy named "Steve Job". Not sure who this guy is.
One thing you can tell from an application is something about attention to detail.

Useful to whom? The racists who care about skin color in Washington?
Skin color is about as much use as eye color or hair color, except to racists.
So much for Martin Luther King's wanting to be judged on the content of the character instead of the color of your skin.
Wear?
How big an effort is that to do in, say, WebKit? Firefox? Why isn't anyone working on it? Or are people? What are the benefits?
Forgive my ignorance, I truly didn't know. Is it something that a few thousand dollars of programming time would buy?
If YOU are the one looking for him, he is surely safe, oh geography master. ;-)
Now all I need is a portable sun to read in my mom's basement.
Fixed that for you.

(Neither does Apple, yet.)
Maybe we can ledit it too.

Hey, this is just ONE more benefit of out-sourcing!
