I wonder how long it took them to work out TRIPS as a abreviation? I suspect a high acronym:hardware design ratio... that said, it took small team a fairly long time to work out LEMUR at our place;-)
Absolutely - it's really just a case of making people aware of the resource implications of what they want. I tend to work it along the lines of "Yes, no problem, we'll just need 21 man-days and a new baseline workstation for that". It allows you to say 'yes' without any 'but's. You get to be the positive one as it forces someone else to say 'no' if the resources can't be met:-)
I always hit the net before emarking on coding. There's no way I'm gonna spend 6 hours throwing together code that someone else has spent 20 lovingly moulding for me:-) I just too damn lazy... What can I say, Wally is my hero:-)

In the days when I was a die-harder coder (unlike the current easy life as a part time manager and part time developer) I used to keep my diary and calendar in code comments - those were, of course, the days without funky handhelds with funkier PIM systems:-) *sigh* The good old days....
