    Actually, the colons give me a Pascal vibe. The indents remind me of Python. So, I've got a language that looks a bit like Pascal and Python, runs in Java and generates HTML + JavaScript. The documentation must be a fun read.

    Do you mean things like using Win+F to start Find or Win+E for an Explorer window and many others? They've been there since Windows 95 and NT4. It's not just for the Start Menu any more.

    Almost as brain dead as password entry boxes that tell me the caps lock is on when I hold shift down for a single character.

    At least they're using the tool, if a bit slower. I have to deal with those that refuse to look at the menu. Those that do look, I'm happy to show a shortcut.

    Forward in Outlook gets me a lot. Find is the equally obvious F4. At least in the main window Ctrl+Shift+F gives you 'Advanced Find.' Not so in a form.

    They didn't sell it in Australia. The warranty requirement is on the local vendor, not the manufacturer.

    Nah, we'll just have a Parliamentary inquiry. It will make some recommendations and possibly take some action. The whole thing will likely be given to someone like Stephen Conroy. He knows all about computers and networks and stuff.

    Heck, if the opt-out allows you to set a mailing address then this will be good for the non-users as well. A simple, single change of address mechanism.

    Actually, JScript is one of the official scripting languages for Windows. Apart from some of the OLE stuff being painful, I much prefer it to VBScript with WSH.

    .NET can still be used through Interop and the like. This looks to be aimed at the level of people who need to build stuff but don't have VS of one form or another. Another option would have been to pair a baby VSTO with the Express editions of VS.

    Given the new formats, there's no reason they couldn't use the DOM, Excel is just one large table after all. It's more likely that they'll use the HTML for user forms and the like. This will replace the current VBA dialog editor. This is a bit of a mixed blessing because we'll have a lot of code to replace. Then again, they've done this before. I wonder if this is HTA reborn.

    I listened to that one. It was an interesting talk including the developers past as a musician IIRC. Then again, Slashdot could do with more Science Show references.

    What stupidity? All but the new guy agreed to do it. The new guy needs a bit of time to study the issue. It's likely to be a done deal by October or November.
