I find it interesting that no one pointed out that Carnegie Mellon smashed into the final obstacle in its first QID run. The vehicle didn't seem to sustain any damage, it was just rather surprising/funny... especially in light of the Pittsburgh Post news article quoting a CMU student, "Sandstorm stopped on its own... just like it was supposed to." It's not like CMU hadn't already had the race rules changed so they could stick a bunch of waypoints in their 10-cm-resolution survey data... *sigh*
