  2. Whatever on Flash On Android Is 'Shockingly Bad' · · Score: 1

Whatever. As already pointed out, it really has nothing to do with Flash. The videos in question are simply not optimized for mobile consumption, they would suck just as bad in HTML5. I usually try to stay out of the whole Flash vs. HTML5 hurrah, but seriously, get a grip. HTML5 will not replace Flash. I have my issues with adobe, just like the next guy, but Flash is so much more than HTML5. Look at Hulu for example. Hulu wasn't scared by the HTML5 hype, they came right out and said what everybody already knows: even for video, HTML5 cannot replace Flash except for in the simplest of cases. Now, I have an Android running Flash, and it plays any video fit for mobile consumption just fine, I would even dare say fast. To boot, the overall Flash experience on Android is good, better than I expected even. I think Adobe has a narrow window in which to redeem themselves. If they can just focus, and get the Flash player streamlined across platforms (it is a definite hog on pretty much all desktop OS's), and pull their heads out and release a 64bit Linux player, then this will all go away. Otherwise we have at least 2 more years of these ad revenue prompted sensationalist "Flash Sucks" headlines, only to be ousted by "HTML5 Sucks" headlines down the road, first due to cross browser compatibility nightmares (javascript anyone?), only to eventually be trumped by "OMG, HTML5 is S Slow!" headlines after everyone's code is hacked and bloated to death trying to deal with multiple browser targets. This is the last I will ever chime in on this (maybe), so seriously, think for your damn selves for once and quit allowing yourselves to be all stirred up by a bunch of BS media shenanigans that started with none other than Steve Jobs, the master of media shenanigans himself. Or, continue to get off by complaining about Flash, and touting the wonders of HTML5 (which probably 80% of the "me too" idiots have probably never even demoed). Whatever, HTML5 is not the answer, in fact it is a step backwards, deal with it.

Oh, add a full featured stable DAW, and video editor to that as well. I'll pay for pro apps on Linux, no problem.

Nope, no iPhone here, Android. And even then I think that WebOS has the best mobile interface by far, just shitty hardware and no community. But I did leave my Linux desktop collecting dust ever since the OS X public beta disc arrived in my mailbox. But please, bash Apple all you want. The more they start to slowly ignore OS X in favor of fucking around with these silly mobile distractions, the less I like them. In fact, I was never what you would consider a fanboy, no iPod, iPhone, iAnything...I simply recognized the beauty of their nix offering and made the switch on merit alone. I did get excited when they released the Xserve line and the Xserve RAID. Had they followed through with that opportunity I feel like it could have been huge, but they ignored it, and it was never more than poop in a box. Of course, they had a huge obstacle trying to build a better server OS than Linux, as the GUI means nothing in that world. They probably recognized they couldn't win the server market with a bad ass GUI, and left it at that. Anyway, to be on topic, this isn't exactly news. It's already been documented, and can easily be fixed, and will work properly in a future update out of the box. I mean fuck, really? It's 2010, does the fucktards really think they are the first ones to do this, and that they've uncovered some major fuck up that is going to ruin the future of the internet. I doubt it. I think some asshole massaged a summary of a non-news story to get a bunch of fucktards like me to waste their time discussing it. At least they've supported IPv6 for a long while now, unlike some other OS companies... Quick, mod me down for not playing along!

I'm a full time musician, and I am definitely NOT rich. And, most of us are far from it. We do it because we love it. Those that are rich and famous are very few. I'm not complaining, I make a decent living, pay my bills, feed the family and such, but I definitely think that we musicians that are not a part of the machine, or the "business", are underpaid. We work hard studying our craft to become the best we can be, we work hard composing and recording songs, and we have to travel more often than not. It is truly hard work. It sucks, because if I had worked as hard at say programming, or medicine, or law, or damn near anything besides music really, I would in fact be quite wealthy by American standards. The sheer amount of hours and passion I have poured into this profession has most definitely not been paid back monetarily. Again, it's about loving what you do. But I mean really, how about a raise? I'm in a rather successful band by today's standards, I'd wager that many folks on this site would at least recognize the name. If I told you who we were, and how much we make, I think you would all be pretty surprised at how little it is. This is really a non issue. Truly good music comes from the heart, from emotion. A computer has neither. It may be able to compose some decent song ideas to a degree, but the performance, and the interpretation would be nothing vs. a live band.

I really dislike the whole tightly controlled closed system. However, I was hoping that Apple would release exactly what they did, because I wanted an ebook reader that didn't suck, and the ipad is truly very sleek, and is certainly the best reader on the market (i know it does much more, and is being marketed as much more than just a reader). If anyone else could manage to build hardware as nice and polished as what Apple always manages to come out with, I would much rather get something else. What would be great is something in the form factor of the iPad running Android. If you build it they will come. I don't think it would be long before someone released an Android version of something like iBook, and that would be perfect. I think instead of everyone sitting around bitching about what Apple did or didn't do, they should build the competition.

I use tmobile in a pretty small town, and I live a ways outside of town, in fact my address is considered a 'rural route' by the USPS. I get awesome coverage, even 3G. I also travel a lot for work, and I've had my Tmobile phone work clear up in some villages up on the arctic coastline where my friends Verizon service did not. It is definitely subjective to where you live, but Tmobile is the only way to go IMO. I have nothing but good to say about Tmobile - coverage, PRICE, phone selection, and customer service are all amazing. As a former Verizon customer, I would rate them the worst of all. They screw you every chance they get, and try to market their fist in your ass as a great 'feature'. Their customer service is also completely worthless. Stay away. My second choice after Tmobile would be AT&T. We just switched my wife from AT&T over to my Tmobile plan, but only to save money, AT&T is very expensive. Outside of cost though, we had no complaints with them, great coverage, and decent customer service. And they have the whole iPhone thing going for them (although I personally prefer the droid, and my wife is beginning to agree after a few weeks getting used to the transition). Sprint is definitely the very worst coverage in my area, we have a couple friends on Sprint, one of them can't even get service at his own house, the other travels with me all the time for work, and his phone does not work anywhere. I think he has to basically venture to the very center of a major metropolitan area and stand right next to a cell tower just to get a few bars. I think you edit your post to say "If you need coverage where I LIVE, then you have one choice...". Because your blanket statement about rural areas is really just BS.
