  1. Still waiting... on Motorola's Rumored Android Phone Focuses on Screen Size · · Score: 1

I've been waiting for the right Android phone to replace my G1. The Verizon Droid is pretty close to what I've been hoping for, but it is for Verizon, not Tmobile. The Cliq is still too bulky, slow processor, etc. I love the form factor of the new MyTouch, but I've got to have hard keyboard, and again the processor is blah. If someone would just make a nice slim package with hard keys, a larger screen, and a great processor I would pay for it immediately. Android is a great mobile OS, we just haven't got the right package quite yet. So maybe this rumored unit will be the one?

I have to agree, we use Xserves here for pretty much everything but DNS, hate the reboots, and the gui tools are almost useless, however, you must admit, they are well on their way to server goodness.

I don't buy that for a second, and niether will anyone running OS X and linux side by side. I just put together a AMD64 3400+ with 3 gigs of RAM nvidia 6800 etc. etc., I run dual boot Fedora, SUSE. Right now I type this message on a 1.2 G4 Powerbook. The Powerbook has a much "speedier" interface than my linux box. In fact it kind of makes me mad to think about how much I'm always waiting around for Gnome.

The spin application actually puts a droplet of this stuff in liquid form at the inner part of the disc, then the disc is spun at high speed to spread it. Then it goes into an oven and is baked (stinky). Which brings me to my next point, which is why not just sray it on buildings like you do paint? Hell even make paint with this stuff mixed in?

Actually, being an off-road enthusiast, and having a lexan windshield in my jeep, I remember finding out that nothing other than glass is acceptable to DOT. From what I understand it has something to do with the ability to shatter and remove the windshield if needed in emergency.

  7. Glad it worked for you... on Best Buy Says Customers Not Always Right · · Score: 1
I used to be a Verizon Wireless Customer. I had a phone (their phone selection is positivley the worst) that died, just simply decided to quit turning on one day with no explanation, so I went to my local Verizon wireless store to get a replacement.

They said they didn't have the phone in stock and I should call the 800 number for a replacement, so I did, they told me I had to go to my nearest dealer for a replacement.

So I went back, they said I would have to wait 2 days for them to get it in stock. Pissed me off, but fine.

So I went back two days later to get it, still not in stock, well I was leaving to Florida for business that night, and I needed my damn phone, and at this point I was way pissed, I demanded they give me a phone, any phone, and they refused, they would sell me a new phone for full retail.

I told the manager I would switch services to get a free phone long before I would give him a damn red cent, and that is exactly what i did, I called Verizon reported the incedent and cancelled every plan in my company. We took our numbers to Tmobile and couldn't be happier.

So that Jack Ass lost 27 subscription customers because he couldn't bear the thought of taking care of a customer. Plus I am now an avid Verizon naysayer, nobody I meet or know will ever be a verizon customer again or ever so long as I can help it.

On the virus writers intentions, they were certainly not to kill people. One would also hope that the Coastguard is smart enough to have some form of backup comminications in place. This was not caused by virus writers alone. It was caused by poorly written software and poor security models at the networks which were affected. Yes, the virus was the spark, but software was an enabler, and the IT crew I would think should have first accountability.

  9. Re:Darwin Streaming Server on Streaming MP3s on Demand? · · Score: 1

On the contrary, Darwin does mp3's beautifully. I use it myself, it is truly the best working, most professional streamer i've ever tried (aside from quicktime streaming server), and as a bonus, its free, and OPEN SOURCE. As for the "ugh" to quicktime, with respect for your opinion of course, the Sorensen Codec is really a wonderful thing, 2nd only to divx in quality (my opinion, others will argue wm9), with a huge upside of blazing fast encoding speeds compared to anything else out there. Now as for the quicktime mpeg4, i would mostly agree with the "ugh". But at any rate, download it and try it, it's really nice. Also there was actually a thread a while back on an article comparing divx, sorensen, wm9, and quicktime mpeg4, it was really good i will try to dig it up. Also quite curious what it is you prefer to quicktime, if it's divx i would have to agree, anything else i would like to know the reasons.
