It seems to me that any kernel that can claim 1,000x speed improvements must either be (a) very early in development, (b) written by a bunch of monkeys who don't know shit about writing an OS, or (c) written by a bunch of teenagers in Russia living in their parents basement.
Most likely a combination of all 3. My recommendation? Try going outside. Find out about these things called "women".
Wow, so I was going to try to learn Linux and I found this on page THREE of the tutorial:
There have been cases where I have frantically tried to stop a runaway program and repeatedly pressed Ctrl-C. The result is that the terminal gets into an undefined state whereby it does not react properly to any input, that is when you press the various keys. For example, pressing the enter key may not bring you to a new line (which it normally should do). If you try executing a command, it's possible to command is not executed properly, because the system has not identified the enter key correctly. You can return your terminal to a "sane" condition by inputting:
stty sane Ctrl-J
The Ctrl-J character is the line feed character and is necessary as the system does not recognize the enter key.
Is this a joke? Please tell me Linux does not randomly have "runaway programs" going into "undefined states" whereby I have to type the "sane" command to get programs to "execute correctly".
THIS is the Great Linux Hype I have been hearing about? You have to be kidding me... this is pathetic... truly sad. Linux appears to be a joke of a toy OS, only - with no toys (games) and the joke just isn't funny. Well, maybe a little. If you work at Microsoft.
We dont want to see our politicians blindly pointing fingers and playing the blame game. It just isn't good politics.
Which makes me wonder, what are we doing right NOW to prevent an attack that could come TOMORROW? Seems like we are obsessed with what happened in the past instead of taking care of the future.
Well, some colleagues and I investigated a Linux Tablet/PDA Hybrid a few months ago. The upshot was that we are somewhat unimpressed... there are more powerful solutions hitting the market soon, and less expensive to boot.
Basically, we thought the Linux Tablet/PDA Hybrid was totally overrated and would recommend against it at this time.

A few colleagues and I investigated the Rexx a couple months ago. I have to tell you that I was unimpressed, as there are more powerful and yet less expensive solutions which should be hitting the market soon.
Therefore I believe the Rexx is overrated and I would recommend against it. Just my two cents.
It downloads and installs client software that runs 24/7 in the background, downloading the latest content. So if you ever happen to go to the site, the videos are ready to play right from disk.
As far as I can tell, you have no options for configuring when or what it downloads.
You have to enable "ESPN Motion", which gives you video highlights and video clips from their regular TV shows (PTI, etc.).
So, you only see the video ads if you watch their video content. Seems like there isn't really anything new here.
Beware of "ESPN Motion" though. It installs a service that constantly downloads content in the background so that when you hit the site it is all ready to go. Interesting idea, but can choke off that UT2004 session at just the wrong time!
What OSS opportunities does this create? Doesn't OSS need to close the gap with SQL 2000 before taking advantage of any slippage?
How about ANSI '92 compliance for MySQL... that would be a good start!

But does it run Linsux?
oh what a belly laugh for me! Such rich humor, and so original too.
Can you imagine a flashmob of these?
Moderation has really taken a turn for the sheep around here.

Why didnt you fix it yourself, you clod?
Looks like 2004 wont be the year of the Linux after all. Hey, go get 'em next year tiger!

March 23, 2004: In this month's Web Server Survey the number of IP addresses with sites using ASP.NET has overtaken those using JSP and Java Servlets. The number of IP addresses found with ASP.NET has shown very strong growth in the past year with a 224% increase from 17.2K to 55.8K.

I really think this is going to be the Year of Linux!
