  3. Depends on Do OpenOffice Users Save In Microsoft Format? · · Score: 1

When saving my own documents for personal use, I always use the native OOo format. This is mainly because my experience with OOo's MS import-export feature has not been all that great (ie. bugs seems to pop up often). However, none of the people that I correspond with use OpenOffice, so I end up saving a copy of documents that I'm sending to people in MS format.

So, then the question fundamentally comes down to, "What do you fear the most?" 1. An inefficient government running roughshod over you (taxation, interference in property rights, tyranny of the majority, etc). 2. Powerful, unaccountable private entities running roughshod over you (monopolies, externalities, inequity of power, etc).

I fear #1 the most and here's why: the motivation of private entities is predictable, they strive for profit. In this sense, it is much easier to figure out what a corporation is up to. They are after profit in one way or another. Government, on the other hand, is much more insidious. It is often much harder to figure out what the government's agenda is. They also usually have many more resources than private entities, as well as a greater ability to restrict our freedoms and liberties (read: monopoly on violence).

The biggest problem with corporations, as I see it, are monopolies and unfortunately many monopolies exist because of government interference in the marketplace.

    A) power a LED at night to provide lit lanes, not just reflection; I'm not really sure if we want more lights on out roads. I could see this causing some problems. C) monitor the temperature to detect ice; We already have sensors in some roads to do just this. The problem with road studs in colder climates is that snow plows pick them off. Therefore they are not used. I don't see the point in having a device that can detect ice that is only used in places that are unlikely to have ice on the roads. D) use infrared ranging and embedded cameras to detect and report the license number of anyone speeding on the road; This is crap! No way am I paying my tax dollars for road studs that will make me pay even more money to big brother.

As a Linux geek who works for Domino's, this is pretty interesting. The Domino's Canada website is http://www.dominos.ca/ they don't currently have online ording, but you could e-mail them and let them know that you want this feature, then maybe we could get this app. to work in Canada as well. Oh ya, while your at it, tell them they should change their shitty DOS based ordering systems to GTK Pizza or something that runs on Linux so I can have some fun at work ;-)
