    This doesn't realate to the article but it relates to your post.

    Long story short: I was at a company that sold vaporware. When we bitched about the stupid deadlines and what the fuck were the salesguys and upper management thinking, we were told that, "If we don't do it, someone else will and make the sale."

    What a rationalization.

    You know what? If I had a really hard programming assignment and no books to read up on it, I would go to an Open Source Project to see how they did it. Call me whatever you like. But if my job and my livelyhood were on the line, I don't know what I would do....

    I know to the second when a patch comes out for Windows! Really! But I don't apply it! Why, you ask. Because, I'm still stuck in adolescence and I want to be a rebel! That's right. I want to run my machine with no patches - hackers be damned! Who are you people to tell me to patch my machine? Ha! I take chances - what's the saying, "You don't wear a raincoat in the shower." or something like that. You know what I mean.

    Later on.. our Windows user gets an unstable system and funny looking things on his dick.

    I don't know. MS, in their quest to make things user friendly, has allowed some very insecure things in their OS. I don't of any, but I'm sure some hacker who knows every little in and out of all of MS's products could do some serious damage.

    You should have a link to it on th front page. I don't spend time looking for privacy statements. If there's not a link on the front page, easily accessible, it's not there. Sorry, but I have very high standards when it comes to my information and I don't have time or patience to be poking around people's web sites. Granted, I'm in the very small minority. Most people don't give a shit. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to put a new tin-foil hat on.

    I don't see one and this doesn't cut it:
    Privacy - users will be entering very sensitive, personal data which they do not want passed on to anyone without their permission. People want to maintain full control over their own information, and not be used as pawns in marketing games
    Until privacy is addressed with a lock tight policy, like, "We'll never give out your info." I will never become a client.

    1. Does a typical MBA really make $150K?
    Only if they graduate from Harvard, Yale, Wharton, Stanford, or some other top 5 school.

    2. If (as seems to be the implicit assumption) the science PhD could do the MBA's jobs as well, any company hiring PhD's can gain competitive advantage (lowers wage costs) by hiring science PhD's instead of MBA's. Don't companies realize this? Or is there more to MBA's than we all assume?
    A lot of business is fuzzy thinking. In my MBA program, half my class is engineers. They're great at the math, but unfortunately, they trust the numbers too much. IMHO. Some have a hard time realizing that the numbers are an approximation and not based on physical laws like theey're used to in engineering.
    Just my opinion because I do the same thing.

    that someone published an article about this. I'm so sick of CEOs complaining that there are not enough engineers being educated in this country and therefore, they have to go to other countries. What horshit!

    Every job I've worked at had at least one engineer (many times a Ph.D.) who couldn't get a job in his chosen field - especially aerospace. So, he becomes a programmer. There's a reason that nobody is getting these dgrees - no jobs!
    Also, why should someone with that kind of talent "waste" it in engineering when they can go to medical school and make ten times as much?

    And another thing, I once was talking to some Indians about why there's so many engineers that come out of their country. Their response: "Every parent wants their child to grow up and become an engineer. If not that, then a doctor." Granted my sample size is four, but it was interesting to hear their mindset. I'm not saying that they're right or wrong, just that Engineers are held in much higher esteem there then over here.

    They don't want to keep pushing the envelope to quick. Otherwise, their future market is gone. Meaning, since technological advances are happening slower (in regards to chips) they have to milk the current tech as long as they can. Don't want to sell everything this year - there won't be anything next year.

    For one thing, you don't have to worry about robots walking off with narcotics intended for the patients-which is more than you can say for a big chunk of doctors/nurses and other hospital staff.

    What hospital is that? Those things are monitored and the dispersement of the narcotics and other controlled substances has to go through a few people. Maybe years ago that was a problem, but now things are actually kind of draconian - to the point where Docs are afraid of giving enough medication. Which means, their patients are in pain.

    My girlfriend is a RN too. She likes the tech (when it works) because it helps eliminate mistakes. The scanning of wrist bar codes for drugs seems to be helping with that. It's amazing how often the wrong drugs or dosages are given to patients. Especially since nurses are incredibly overworked - they frequently have to work 12+ hours. In some hospitals, if you don't put in the time, they'll fire you. Some how, they're getting around labor laws. And now, hospitals are trying to get foreign workers to become nurses ...I'm going on a rant. I'm stopping.

    When someone complains to me about spyware, I first tell them about Ad-aware and then I tell them to install Firefox. I also explain to them, that since I installed Firefox, I haven't had a problem with adware. This gets all the time.

    I forgot about the reports that Money and Quicken produce. My bank at least doesn't produce anything like wht Money produces and it only shows checks or CC charges that cleared.
    One time, this doctor's office said that I didn't pay one of their bills. I produced a report showing the payments, dates, and even check numbers. I made sure all the checks cleared - they did. I then walked in with the report, showed it to the office manager, and she just took it and said she'd confirm it. After not hearing anything for two days, I called. She said thta everything checked out and appologized.

    Today you just click online and your bank shows you exactly where your finances are.

    I use MS Money for balancing my accounts and for tracking spending. Plus, the transactions you enter locally sometimes takes a couple of days to show up on the online statement. And, there's been a few times when I caught mistakes that my bank made.
    So what I'm saying is bank's online systems shouldn't be the only thing you rely on. I also keep the hand written ledger up to date too in case of system failure - yes I'm anal.

    No, I don't think you're a Troll. It sounds like you're using an older version of Firefox. Try getting a newer one at Firfox's site
    As far as your back is concerned, they may actually be using something that does expose some sort of problem with Firefox. There may be some things to note. Like - Is it an ASP site? (It may have nothing do with it.)

    Lastly, don't let some people discourage you from using Firefox with their condescending attitude. I for one like having new users join the fray :-)
