  1. Re:here's my beef on Flaw In Emergency Response System May Have Killed Hundreds · · Score: 1

I think in general I would rather have my condition categorized by a human with a moderate amount of training than a computer. Computer's are good at doing lots of things but for something like this I think a human who can use judgement on borderline cases would be better than an automated system. The computer can make a suggestion but the final call should be made by a person IMO.

The internet isn't the only medium customarily used for software interchange. And they are allowed to charge a reasonable fee for duplication and distribution. (See GPL section 1.) If they really felt ornery, they would be perfectly within their rights to charge you for the physical cost of a bunch of floppies, and the time (at minimum wage, or even higher,) some flunky had to spend copying onto those floppies.

I think saying floppies are a "medium customarily used for software interchange" is at this point a bit of a stretch. I don't know of any major software that is currently available via floppies. Also the Majority of PC's no longer come with a floppy drive. Much like reel to reel tapes (yes I know some palces still have some but mostly for "legacy" support) floppies are now a thing of the past.

God lied (having said the fruit would kill them), and the snake told the truth (they became more like God). God didn't lie before eating the fruit they were to have eternal life. After they were mortal and had a limited life span and they eventually died.

Some application's can use more than 4GB of RAM: SQL Server 2000 and Exchange 2000 & 2003 to name a few.

I think the deal is they have to be PAE aware, I know there are some special settings you have to set on SQL Server to get it to use more than 4GB and I imagine the same is true for Exchange.

Also in SQL Server you loose some functionality (Dynamically allocating only the amount of RAM it needs jumps to mind)
