Uhh dreamcast was 200 dollars at launch, and offered great GAME titles and nothing else, but it's on your fail list. It did fail, but it only disproves your theory. Also add n64 on the list of game systems that disprove your theory. It also launched for under $199, nor did it chase the highend niche market.
