That sounds like a fantastic idea, not to mention a great marketing concept.
You wouldn't have to buy extra memory cards. You'd be able to take your own controller preferences anywhere.
I would totally dig taking my own Rev controller to my friend's place to play on his machine with my own personal settings.
Hell, they might even be able to market it in such a way that people who don't even own a Rev would buy a controller so they could have "their" controller when they play on other friends' machines. (That might be pushing it though.)
Metroid Prime also had music that would fade in and out when you happened to get near an enemy. It's often how I would know one of those damn invisible space pirates was lurking about.
And oh god, the Chozo Ghosts.
The music for the Chozo Ghosts still freaks me the hell out.
I had some friends down in the SoCal area who were really excited for the Video Games Live concert. But unfortunately, they told me it was extremely disappointing, and didn't even hold a candle to the previous Final Fantasy concerts.

Sony has no plans to speed up PS3 development based on the next Xbox system.
Good.
At least someone is learning from Sega's old mistakes.
