  1. Am I getting old... on Linux Handhelds in African Schools · · Score: 4, Funny

Its amazing how far things are getting at this stage... My hats off to the fine people who are out to make this sort of education possible for kids around the world. Its just a tad scarey that in my day we only had home made paint and a cave wall... although there was that posh kid with his abacus.

  2. Its a bit like taking some ones life and giving .. on Gates Pledges $750M to Vaccinate Children · · Score: 1

them back a day. Gates might be doing this just to be nice but given that his company is so good at gouging everyone including some of the poorer countries in the world it seems like a bit of a joke to me. If his company was not intent on gouging every last penny they could from poorer governments then surely those governments could spend the savings on this and much more. Its not right to criticize such a giving as this, but if you sit back and think about it its really just returning some of what has been taken to begin with. Footnote :: Mr Gates, nice gesture, give more. Remember, you cant take it all with you when you die. Another footnote :: This discussion should never have been about MS v Linux but to put it in perspective, Who here gave money to the Tsunami Victims? Plenty of us, without thinking about it, and we are not sitting on a mountain of cash.

I always loved telling people they were on hold and listening to them for a while... People seem to lose all sense of reality when you tell them they are on hold.. Some of the names you get called are quite.... entertaining.

Im getting about 100 an hour, and I finished my degree last year, but im also only working 4 hours a week, post graduate research is the way to go :-) Im actually only making 25 - 40 euros an hour but a grant and subsidies bring it to 100 an hour.

I have always argued to have that particular part removed or rewritten as it has always been my arguement that it is a one liner that basically says forget every thing above this and do as you are told.. Often it is not difficult to argue how this point is not needed as you would be more than happy to engage in any reasonable extra duties from time to time :-)

Would have to go with not in my job description.Or more to the point asking politely if they really want me to be the one to train the replacement. After all how good a job are you really going to do of replacing the guy/girl who is undercutting your wage to get your job.
