Get an Apple AirPort base station.
Buy two external 500GB HD's and plug em in to the AirPort.
Run Leopard and use Time Machine to back up to your network drives.
Works soo sweet.
I believe the title should be:
Microsoft Hires Director of Linux Inoperability
Slashdot should read through their posts more carefully in the future, so that typos like this doesn't happen.
The current revenue of a company like Comcast comes mainly from the money paid by subscribers, that is true. However, only a fraction of that money goes to the TV networks, most of it goes to pay for infrastructure and such. The reason that the TV networks get none of the money is, quite simply, because they get their finance from commercials. Another model for delivery, like the one suggested in the article, would give no reasons for networks to give the low/nonexistent prices that they currently do to Comcast.
Although I do believe that the subscription television probably is something that we might see in the future, I hardly think the article is slashdot-worthy.
Slow news-day anyone?
Two board games I warmly recommend, if you like german logic-based games like Settlers is Drakon and Maginor.
There is a game called "Frag" which is a tabletop version of an FPS-game. Get your hands on the rocket launcher and start the bodycount.
Then we have the Steven Jackson cardgames, like Illuminati and Chez Geek. If you haven't tried, yor definitely should.
Finally, there is a new swedish made game that you should try to get your hands on. "Kablamo" is russian-roulette as tabletop. Try to get your opponents to blow their brains out, one by one, while keeping track of your own barrel. Insane amounts of fun!
A thousand more is out there, this is just from the top of my head.
